Storing 8GB of data on a pen drive would be nice but I don't think I could give up USB 2.0 support.

Copy an 8GB zip file to the drive, then copy it back and then run Actions->Test in Winzip.

Well gee... google the Samsung part number (the second line) on the chip, and it will tell you the capacity of the thing and exactly what kind of part it is. I would have done this already but half of the partnumber is unreadable in your pic.

Fixed. :D

haha! For sure...

Even if it does compress it or something, even thought it has no 2.0 support, I'd still buy one to play with.

My friend's dad went to Hong and picked up a few of these sony thumb drives.

They are 8gbs! It's obvious they aren't really sony thumb drives, but they work and I see all 8gbs of space.

I put my sandisk thumb drive next to it to show you how small these "Sony" drives are.

Anyone else have any info on these drives?

In order to salvage my post in off topic, this thread is about Hong Kong. Just so happens there's a thumb drive to boot.

how much were they?

So far I have 100mbs in there.

I'm transfering about a gig into there, but damn no usb2.0.

I'll update when it's done.

I'd be interested to see if you could somehow disable the compression software and get a more usable drive. The size would still have to be pretty substantial for it to get 8GB compressed. I wouldn't be surprised if they were usb2 as well, but the compression software is slowing it down.
