Just picked up a few thumb drives from Hong Kong

My friend's dad went to Hong and picked up a few of these sony thumb drives.

They are 8gbs! It's obvious they aren't really sony thumb drives, but they work and I see all 8gbs of space.

I put my sandisk thumb drive next to it to show you how small these "Sony" drives are.

Anyone else have any info on these drives?

In order to salvage my post in off topic, this thread is about Hong Kong. Just so happens there's a thumb drive to boot.

He got them for $15 each.

It's really a mystery though as I took one apart and it has a Samsung chip inside that resembles a typical ram stick.

I would also like to know if you can actually fit 8GB worth of data in there.

Ok, so here's the deal.

The transfer rate is definately not usb2.0. It's slow. Takes about 10 seconds for a 5mb file.

Any file can transfer into the drive, but videos and music do not play.

All pictures are accessible and are not corrupted when being transfered in and out.

He purchased 15 of them for $15 each. I'm still skeptical about their quality though so I wouldn't sell these myself.

I took a third picture of the memory inside.

Also, it seems that any file works transfering back and forth except for music and video files.

A friend of mine got a 2 GB one from China for cheap. He said it came with a virus on it, but after cleaning it up, it works perfect.
