Hope I dont feel sick about it later.

I'm coming from a 5970 and I've absolutely hated this card since the day I bought it. Nothing but problems, whether it be drivers, performance.. or lack there of.

It also has an annoying rattle in the fan. I plan on RMAing the card once my new ones arrive and then I'm going to sell the darn thing and hope someone else enjoy's it much more than I did.

I'm running 2560x1600. I wasn't sure if two 570 gtx's would get the job done or not.

Nah man you won't feel sick. Your rig will be sick. Some on here will tell you, that you should have went with CFX 6970's for that resolution and saved yourself some money, but you probably knew that and wanted to avoid AMD as you had driver issue's with your 5970.

I have owned AMD cards and haven't had problems, but never had a CF setup. However, I have had an 8800 GTS 640 SLI setup that ran like a dream for a few years and my current Triple SLI GTX 260 setup has given me zero problems through multiple driver upgrades.

Enjoy your setup! There is nothing that will perform better right now (except 3 580's :D)....sometimes you just need to go all out!!!

Does 2x580 offer a noticeable performance gain over 2x570 at 2560x1600? I'd think 2x570 could whip anything you throw at it and save you $300.00 in the process.

But I could be saying that just because I'm jealous. :)

Now if they would just give support for PLP support for 3d vision or whatever its called

I have two 20 inch monitors flanking my 30 inch, they match up perfectly.

The 5970 did well in some area's, but in others it didnt. I think it was mostly to do with crossfire. I've usually had great results with AMD. I dont really hold any brand loyalty, I've flip flopped many times.

2x570 probably would have been fine, but if you have the money there's nothing wrong with 2x580. I just hope you have the PSU to support them. I would think you would need at least a good 850 watt unit to run them.

I believe i have a Corsair 850w, was hoping it would do the job.

Enjoy! That is a monster setup.

I'm curious as to how you were able to purchase two of them when they are only a halo product and basically not for sale anywhere?

Newegg had some this morning. I picked the Asus ones because from the reviews I've seen they seem to overclock pretty good. Would've picked EVGA if they were in stock.

EDIT: They still have gigabytes and sparkle 580gtx's in stock.

Definitely won't feel sick. As a former 5970 owner I feel your pains. (except I had four 5970s - talk about quad damage!)

Four? Thats crazy. The number one thing that pisses me off about my 5970 is the fan rattle. It takes hours of continuous running for it to go away. If you restart then I get to hear it for the rest of the day.

Never noticed a rattle but the fan overall especially under load on a single card is louder than TWO 580s! The 580s are very quiet.

Yeah the rattle is actually a pretty common problem. It sounds like a fan grazing a wire.

In how many systems? You could only Crossfire two at a time and the scaling would be horrible with that anyway....

depending on the rest of your system and how much you overclock, you could easily end up pushing that psu really hard. just two completely stock 580 cards alone can pull in excess of 500 watts.

ctark & rubycon,
if we were talking about cars, you two would belong in the "exotic car" club. Like two gentlemen with cash flaunting the public as they listen to your convo.
Honestly I'm a little jealous of you bastards! I'm having to buy lower end cards with rebates because the fiancee just made me $4000 poorer this xmas! lol

Never ran more than two and don't have room for more than two in systems because of storage controllers. Of course I do have a system that can use all PCI-E slots (seven) but that is dedicated strictly to Tesla.

I get things in pairs so when I ordered two cards I got four. But that's OK too. :)
