Just moved to Douglasville, GA... I NEED SOMETHING TO DO HERE besides work... I work 8 - 5 M - F

On friday I head back to Statesboro and come back Sunday. Does anyone know of a good place just to hang out and be social? I work with a bunch of old people (average 52) and the "young" (26 & 28) IT guys commute 2 hours everyday

Oh and I'm not pulling a TridenT. I already have a girlfriend and I'm not socially awkward.

Thanks!

There's a reason why I'd never move somewhere out in the middle of no where.

douglasville isn't in the middle of nowhere anymore. the area around it has built up quite a bit, and you're only 20 minutes or so from atlanta.

Your 20 minutes from downtown...just head down there and you will find something that interests you. Hit Peachtree Street...if you can't entertain yourself there, there's no hope for ya'.

Hit I-20E to I75-85N and go to exit 250(10th St)....GT campus, Sublime Doughnuts(DROOLS!!!!), The Varsity and tons of other stuff.

If he's that close then why would he even need to ask? It's the Capitol of the South.

Good question but he might not have realized just how close he was with his 200+ mile commute back and forth between Statesboro.

considering atlanta is between statesboro and douglasville if he's traveling by major highway i doubt that's the case.

Just moved to Douglasville, GA... I NEED SOMETHING TO DO HERE ...

I'm not socially awkward.

Thanks!

Apparently you are socially awkward... because you couldn't be social with ANYONE in a town with a population of 31,534 .. and ask them what there is to do.

Hell.. if you just MOVED there... where are you living? couldn't ask your realtor? couldn't ask a neighbor?

Hell.. a 2 second google find that in the area..

While Downtown hosts many shops and eateries, the main business area in Douglasville is located south of the city between Chapel Hill Road and Georgia State Route 5, around the Douglas Boulevard Corridor. Arbor Place Mall is located in this area as well as many major retail stores and fast food chains.

Arbor Place Mall is the 4th largest mall in the State of Georgia, and home to over 100 shops and restaurants. The anchor stores are Dillard's, Sears, Macy's, Belk, J.C. Penney, Old Navy and Bed Bath & Beyond.

Surely there MUST be something to do around the 4th largest mall in the state??

A friend of mine and AT member lives over there. He runs his own computer fix-it business and hosts occasional LAN parties. The most fun I've had in Douglasville.

Well I'v been to Arbor Place Mall. Shitty mall IMHO
I'm not looking for places to eat I'm looking for places to meet people. I don't have a relator because the housing is provided by the company I work for.
I could just drive into Atlanta... But what would I do? THAT'S WHY I MADE THIS THREAD.

Off the top of my head...

Zoo
Aquarium
Shops and food in Decatur (Brick Store Pub should be your first stop as it is one of the highest-rated beer bars in the US)
Hawks or Thrashers game?
Tons of good golf courses in the area if you're into that

If you tell us some of your interests, we can probably steer your more accurately.

Location: Atlanta, Ga

I are confused. You live in Atlanta or Douglasville? Where are you from originally?
What did you do there? Do the same stuff ...

Why do you need people to tell you what to do!?
Go get a travel guide or something. Atlanta has tons of stuff to do.

No prob.

Even if you are not a huge fan, it's pretty fun to see pro sports. You could make an evening of it and do dinner at one of the downtown restaurants as well.

Atlanta also has a number of good music venues; The Fox is of course the "don't miss" of the bunch, Smiths Olde Bar sorta looks like a shithole from the outside, but they host a lot of good acts in a relatively small club. Tabernacle is another one whose schedule you should check.

...and if you ever want to do some golfing, just shoot me a PM. I'm always looking for an excuse to get out and I promise I will not cut you into little pieces and bury you in the bunker next to the 15th green with the rest of them.

Haha. I don't play much... my girl friend's dad taught golf for a while and now we occasionally go out. I still suck :\

*Gasp* You should know my history!

Lived in the Suwanee area for 10 years / grew up there. Went to college in Statesboro. Now work and live in Douglasville till the middle of the summer.

I'm a geek but do like to party. I might end up going to Fuck Yes in February
Most of the people I'v meet in the past were through work and just hanging out at the student center.

I like sports: racing, football, and baseball.

If I think of something else I'll post it
