I think its too far but I found Athens, GA not too shabby for nightlife and college age folks to chill with. Then again it was only for a few months and I was 18.

*Gasp* You should know my history!

Lived in the Suwanee area for 10 years / grew up there. Went to college in Statesboro. Now work and live in Douglasville till the middle of the summer.

I'm a geek but do like to party. I might end up going to Fuck Yes in February
Most of the people I'v meet in the past were through work and just hanging out at the student center.

I like sports: racing, football, and baseball.

If I think of something else I'll post it

if you're into gaming and you're on steam check out the PC PC Games group. local gamers, many of whom are in your area. football is obvious, this is a great college football town. falcons are hot right now too, obviously. dunno much about racing. i don't know where the kids hang out these days, but i would imagine the music venues mentioned earlier would be a good start. there are some restaurants out your way as well, i'm sure some have bars, trivia, etc.

Gumbeaux's is incredible. I highly recommend the train shots!
There is an irish pub down there as well that gets it going.

My SO is from there. Believe me she is glad to have come to Socal. Her 2 sisters followed her shortly after, and everyone is glad to be out of there.

Don't raise your kids in the public schools.

It may be worth checking out /r/atlanta on reddit. We just organized a whirlyball event earlier this month, and are trying to work something out for Feb.

BTW, I'm new to the area as well.

There are good public schools in the metro area, but you'll pay extra for a house in their feeder system.

the public schools around us are just fine. just like anywhere, there are good and bad schools. i can guarantee you there are worse schools in california than here.
