We had a fundraiser for the 4th years in my program last Saturday, a kegger thrown by myself and my two roomates. Managed to squeeze 112 people roughly into our very small town house with no major damage. It cost about $1100 to put on and we took in $1900 from cover. 500 ounces of alcohol and 2 kegs gone by 1am.

Cops came at 1:30am and gave us the riot act and threatened a big fine, then one of the people watching the door/taking keys and cover drank herself into oblivion and had to go to the hospital via EMS, idiot.

No problems aside from that though, I won't mention the cleanup..

So you made $400 - not $1900. Learn first grade math.

Am I missing something? $1900 - $1100 = $800...

And that, my friends, is IRONY...

*sigh*

geez people when will you learn

Well, you WERE being ironic 😛

More like sarcastic.

You were only being sarcastic if you intended to be an asshole. Sarcasm = irony + bitterness/scorn.

So what's your point?

Your response about sarcasm shows ignorance of the relationship between sarcasm and irony. They are too close in meaning to correct me.

Wouldn't it be (1900-1100)/3 since three people threw it? 266.66 continued.

No, I think you did the math wrong... you misinterpreted "500 ounces of alcohol" for $500 in alcohol... or some other error.

Let this be a lesson to all of you in corporate communications.

$1900 = Gross Revenue

$1100 = Costs

$800 = Gross Profit

The PR releases always tout the top line. The regulatory filings disclose the bottom line for those unable to do the math themselves...

Keep in mind that the $800 is not the "real" number. There was the bribe to make the police go away. The lost security deposit on the townhouse. A few hundred dollars in cleaning suppliesetc...

Net Profit = -$387 😛

1900 made

I think you could argue that the the word made could be used as revenue.

They used 1100.
They made 1900.
They ??? 800.

I suppose you could argue it the other way just as easily though.

A person dying at a party is the measure of a parties success. If noone dies, then it wasn't a good party. Dontcha know? 😉 j/k j/k, of course.

Points

a) 112 people drinking 2 kegs? it lasted?!?! lightweights
b) how the hell does a 2-keg party cost $1100?
c) if you collected keys.... where did everyone sleep?

Story has a ton of holes

nooooo, nooooo, that's "it's not a party until someone breaks something"
that probably happened too.

😀 i'm glad it made somebody smile... I was beginning to think it was all for nothing... 😀

There is no way 112 people got drunk off of 2 kegs and 8 handels (500/59, as there are 59 ounces in 1.75L). Especially if they lasted until 1am. Not a chance.
