Just got soft contacts...

and I struggle with taking them out... the whole peel thing is just scary for me.

I've been wearing hard contacts for 15 years and I have no problem putting them in and popping them out, but switching to soft lenses? Wow. I'm like WTF? Even putting them in is a bit tougher because they're much bigger so I have to open my eyes wider whereas I can halfass it with hard lenses. I even suck with handling the lenses since they're flimsy and sticky.

But really my main struggle is with taking them out. I hate the idea of touching my eye. I suppose with some practice I'll get it...

I've taken mine out just walking down the street; a quick pinch on the eyeball and off they come. Don't even need to stop walking. You'll get used to it.

Clean hands is normally the key. Sweat/dirt stings. If your hand is clean, you'll find it very easy to touch your eyeball.

And, as everyone else said, just a light pinch folds that little sucker right up.

Just wait until you tear your cornea out like I once did...
Was wearing contacts again as soon as the doc said ok.

it's a hassle but it gets better, up to a point.
After 3 months I just gave up though, too much time wasted and it required too much planning since I had to count in bonus time for those times where it just won't get in after trying multiple times.

I wish I could wear them, but my eyes are too small. I had multiple eye doctors try to put them on me, but I can't open my eyes wide enough.

Yeah, you need the pinch method 😀

2 fingertips on the edges of your retina, then push inward towards the pupil.

BTW- I use Air Optix Night & Day. I can sleep in these, swim, and only have to take them out every few weeks. It's like cheap laser surgery 🙂 Highly recommended if you have trouble with lens care.

I find soft easier to remove and hard easier to put in. And I still can never tell if it is inside out or not most of the time (minus the markings). I'm using duette lenses now which are soft edge and hard center lenses. I find them to be the best mix of vision quality, comfort and handling.

You just need to get the new ones that dissolve in your eye overnight. Just wake up and put a new set in.

When taking them off, try sliding the contact down a bit so that when you do the "pinch" move, you're doing it over the white part of your eye. The white part of your eye is much less sensitive than over the pupil/colored area.

15 years with hard contacts and I definitely scratched my cornea bad enough I had to go back to glasses for 3 weeks. But yikes. How did you end up doing that?

You Asian by any chance? Yeah I did realize you need to have decently wide eyes to put them in. I could put hard lenses in without pulling my eyes open but soft I have to try to peel them and make sure they don't get caught.

Calling bs, I don't think there are any lenses that dissolve in your eyes overnight. Provide us with a link with the dissolving lenses technology.

And if you have your girlfriend help you, make sure she's washed the chili off her hands first. Holy cow that hurt.

WHOA! you put your fingers INSIDE your eyeball?! just kidding, but man, that's a scary thought.

Better that it dissolves when you're on the highway rather than when you're on the road and someone dressed in black can cross the road anytime.

definitely this. It helps a lot, also if you have a psychological block.

Yeah, make damned good and sure the contact is clean. I played softball one night, and must've knocked the dirt/sand material into my contact case when taking them off one night. Put them in the next day, and got a hour or two in and realized something wasn't right.

Scratched cornea. So much pain you can't open your eye. UGH. Went to an opthamologist (I think that's the term) and he dropped a paralytic drop of some sort in there... HOLY COW, that was MAGIC. Got some antibiotic drops, and after about a week, my eye was back to normal.

I still used contacts routinely then, though now I only use them on days I play sports. Glasses are more distinguished, and slightly more healthy for your eye as they have full access to the oxygen around them whereas the contact has to be permeable for the oxygen to get through. My contacts are Accuvue Oasis day and night deals, but my eyes to tend to be a bit more red with contacts than without.

I remember when I first got contacts, it would take me like half an hour to put one in. Now it's automatic. The biggest hurdle is getting used to touching your eyeball. Once you can do that, it's not bad. Otherwise, it's instinctive to blink or at least squint as soon as your finger touches it.

If that fails, these work well.
