Apparently, my car was six months overdue for registration renewal and I didn't have the foggiest clue. 🙁 I must've missed the DMV letter in the mail. Nobody's fault but my own.
They wouldn't let me drive the car home, I had to park it in a private parking lot, I had no idea who's lot it was (the garage was closed), and I had to have it towed home.

Could've been alot worse I guess. I could've been on my way to somewhere important.

Once I got pulled over for speeding and it turns out that my license was suspended. I had no idea.

Inspection and registration renewals are easy to forget, even though there's dates right there on the windshield. 🙁

Last time I got pulled over, I had to much tint on my front windows..... State police suck when they pull you over for stupid sh1t like this.

Here's what I don't understand. He was driving behind me for 30 seconds before he hit the lights and siren. How did he know my inspectiopn was overdue? Did he run my plates that quickly?

They put dates on your windshield still? Welcome to 1980. They haven't done that since the 80's here in TN.

Wow.

My registration is up to date but just haven't put my 07 tags on yet. Saw a car awhile back with Jan 05 tags still.

Yup. Bottom left corner.

most police forces have trunk radios that connect them with the intranet, and sometimes the internet. they could tgrace your record in less than 30 most likely. i had my license suspended 9 times (that i got caught for) along with 2 expired registration tickets and a couple no insurance tickets. take care of that stuff, i shirked mine on purpose. took a long time to dig out of that hole.

Wow. I got hit with this a couple years ago, but they let me drive home. That sucks.

Yeah, well, he told me he should really have it towed and impounded, but he was cutting me some slack. I don't know if he was BS'ing or what not.

What is the logic for auto registration? (Other than revenue generation)

The logic is called greed. Now I wouldn't mind paying a registration for a Super Auto Bahn type Highway.

registration sticker goes on your license plate, at least in PA.

It's on the sticker that you stick to your windshield... so that officers can see when they expire too. Now they do a color-code system for the inspection stickers - drive-by checking, I guess. How do your cops see them ?

Dates are also on the registration sticker on the windshield. How do your cops know it's expired, unless they run a plate ?

There is nothing but revenue generation.

Bah--cops shouldn't stop motorists solely for non-safety related reasons. A police woman stopped me once in Miami Beach for expired tag. Luckily I had just forgotten to affix the new sticker on the plate.

On a related note--I don't understand why safety inspection stickers are not on the license plate so that cops can verify them.

They stopped that here in Jersey a couple of years ago.

Dont you have the little registration stickers on the licence plate? He could have just looked at that and saw it was out of date.

I had received a speeding ticket in the past. Then we moved to a new house and I hadnt changed my address with the MVA. So my speeding ticket court date was sent to the other location, and I never received it. So I never showed up in court because I had no idea when the date was. They automatically suspend your license if you dont show up.

I was younger and irresponsible and I should have been proactive with finding out the court date rather than just letting it go.
