Note the word "fun" or "exciting" is absent from this description. Cool and good looking don't make a good game. I installed Doom 3 bout 5 months ago...have not finished it cuz it's so damn boring. Sold it on Ebay 2 months after I bought it. Sorry, it sucked IMO.

My friends have told me that also, but Doom 3 is a great game. Needs improvement, but still good...
 
You may as well download the high poly head mod that smooths out their heads. And the flashlight mod theres no reason to have to deal with darkness constantly in a game that is mostly graphics.

I must admit that the game was fun in some parts. I couldnt play it all the way through without taking a few months off.

The beginning is fun, a certain part in the middle which i wont ruin has good atmosphere, hell is awesome, every other part sucks.
 
The most annoying part of that game was how weak the weapons felt. Specifically, when you shot an imp is behaved as if it were a damn sprite with a preloaded death animation. If rag doll phsyics were implemented better I would've enjoyed the game MUCH more, it's that important to me.
 
I played it for the first time recently and thought it was fun. The only things I thought could have been better was you should have been able to reach Bravo team and have maybe a level, or at least half a level, with the squad. An outdoor level with a vehicle would have been nice (after all, Doom 3 more or less was supposed to be a demo of what the engine can do). The AI was pretty stupid and once you became familiar with how they worked, it was easy to kill them. The constant materialize bad guys in back of you and pop baddies from a closet got to be old about halfway through.

Even so, I will play this game again, which I can't say for too many games.
 
Due to the simple fact that you can't run up to an imp, zombie, or a pinkie at 60mph with a duck gun and blast it twenty feet away from you also pissed me off. Perhaps that's an unrealistic expectation but g*d damn that made Doom fun back in the day.
 
zombies don't stand a chance against my...flashlight? i shall blind you to death you bad-posture-having, brain-craving-and-eating, pale creatures.
 
i never finished doom 3 because i got too scared. however, F.E.A.R. looks really, REALLY good! i played the demo fer a bit.... the commercial looks good too!
 
I would say that out of the 100,000+ people on this board, less than 200 played through all of doom 3 without any rediculous mods.
