2 bags of Cereal for under $5.00
A gallon of Milk for $1.78
A 12 inch Roast Beef Sub from their Deli for $2.99

I get my groceries at Trader Joe's and Costco. They're both cheaper than the supermarkets, and the clientele is less obese than at W*lmart.

Trader Joes is cheaper then your supermarket? Holy F......do you regualry shop at Roche Bros?

For the things I buy there, TJ is cheaper. Yes, I'm comparing to regular supermarkets, not the upscale ones. Supermarkets around here jacked up their regular prices to make up for their sale prices.

1/2 gal milk $1.80 at TJ, $2.20 at supermarket
dozen xl eggs $1 at TJ, $2 at supermarket
sourdough bread $1.60 at TJ, $2.50-3.00 at supermarket
6 pack imported beer $5.00-6.00 at TJ, $7.00 at supermarket
cereal $2.00-2.50 at TJ, $3.00-4.00 at supermarket

I live in Boston and it is the other way around....but $1 for a dozen eggs? I can't even get med. eggs for that price!

TJ's is OK, but Whole Foods beats it by a mile. Whole Foods has the best produce, meat and fish department you can find anywhere. The one in Westchester county has a whole isle dedicated to grains, rice and beans in bulk at nice prices. About 100 different kinds.

Strange. Around here TJ is cheap and Whole Foods is upscale, the place to go for trophy wife eye candy 🙂. TJ doesn't have much for meat, produce and fish, but the bakery, cheese and wine are good.

sounds like they have started filtering Nitrous Oxide into the ventilation system.

Wish they'd build a Super WalMart in Hawai`i. THe new WalMart that just opened is bigger than Super WalMarts I've been too on the Mainland, and it's just a reg. WalMart (small food aisle).

I personaly like Winco, anyone else got one where they live?

I can get my months worth of groceries (food items, bathroom stuff, lunch baggies) all for around $45-50,

Dozen Eggs: 68cents
Bread: $1
Milk: $1.68
Pop-Tarts: $1 regular box
Etc.

There are tons of deals there, I can get most items that I regularly shop for <$5.

I can't stand Wal-Mart. I stopped in a super Wal-Mart (an oxymoron if ever there was one) last summer on my was up to the lake to try to find some o-rings for something on my boat. Holy crap! I felt like I'd walked in on a casting call for Deliverance. I mean, state fairs have NOTHING on Wal-Mart on a Saturday. Freakiest. Stores. Ever.

Just bought $200 worth of food at teh commissary. Cabinets are overflowing.

Gallon of milk at Walmart - $3.00
Gallon of milk at Commissary - $1.79

Prices are amazingly low, plus no tax.

...changed the landscape of small town America.

Yep, now "small town America" doesn't have to bend over and take it up the ass from the only mom & pop hardware store in a 20 mile radius. Breaks my heart!

Even with Walmart, it still pays to shop around. Although they normally have low prices, you can usually beat them when other stores have sales.

heh.. we went to a Super WM in Carbondale Illinois this evening and some dengerates had set fire to some boys jeans on a rack in the clothing area.. They think with a lighter and they smoldered for a bit before bursting into flame. Extinguished pretty quickly, but filled the store with the most acrid smell I've ever smelled.

I was quite surprised that they didn't empty the store when the alarm went off. Fire trucks came, police, etc.

I'm sure they got it on tape somewhere.. that was a first..

Yeah my brother-in-law is in the navy. I was amazed at how cheap the stuff was on base. but i guess thats more th en fair considering the job you all have heh.

God I hate super walmarts. Once I'm out of college and making a decient amount of money I don't think I will ever set foot in once again.

I like Wal Mart because other stores can't beat their prices in some items:

Cambell soup $1.62 <large can>
Gatorade $1.90 <64 oz bottle>
Spices $.50
Salt $.37
Pepper $.50
and some other stuffs

WM doesn't always have good prices on everything . I can get chicken breasts and pork chops for $1 a pound on sale at Albertson/Kroger/SuperOne almost weekly.

You have to compare and shop plus use the coupons. You can save a bunch of cash by doing so.

Some of you are spending too much money on grocery. $2 for dozen eggs? I got large dozen eggs on sale $.50 last week.

Our local WMs are remodeling big time. The stores are much cleaner and brighter. Wider isles and such.

<<--------- don't work at WM and don't know anyone who works there.
