Well, over the last few months, I have been skiing pretty much every Tuesday at Cannon Moutain since it's 2 for $40 for an all day pass. I recently got a new digital camera, a Powershot A40 (thanks RossMAN) so I brought it with me today to take some pics. It was a bit cloudy and very windy and cold when I got there @ 9am. The base temperature was about -8F with a gusty 30-40MPH wind with off and on snow. The summit was really harsh, as usual, and I had to avoid it for most of the first part of the day. It was about -15F on the summit, but the wind was flirting with 50MPH quite often.
As the day went on, it cleared up and the wind calmed down a bit. Once the sun came out it was a beautiful day, and I started snapping some pics. The snow was great as they just got about 10in. on Sunday, so there was some nice deep powder on the sides of the trail. Some of the main, wider open trails near the summit were a bit icy as the wind was blowing all the loose snow off. All and all it was a great day. 🙂
Hopefully, next Tuesday will be another nice day.
I'm still learning this A40, so the pics are just OK. I'm trying to get a handle on the ISO and shutter speeds still. Anyways...here are the pics. 🙂
Shot from the summit, with interstate 93 on the right
Another summit shot, with someone's goofy hat in the way. 😉
Mt. Lafayette in the clouds
Mt. Lafayette with me in the foreground
Another summit shot with my finger in the way 😱
Similar shot minus the finger 😉
Another nice view
Cloudy Mt. Lafayette close-up
View from the tram building at the summit
Lower mountain with a frozen Echo Lake in the foreground
Mt. Lafayette in the distance
Another nice view from the "Vista" trail (one of my favorites)
All pics were shot 1600 x 1200, SF (Superfine) and resized with PS7 to 1280 x 960.
