I used to play video games a ton as a kid, but then around high school/college I just stopped. Partially because I got into PC games, but also because console gaming was expensive.
I first got a Wii and I was immediately back into video games. It's fun, easy to pick up, and great in groups.
The biggest issue with the Wii and its games is depth - there just isn't much. When I finally realized this, I wanted more, so I got a 360 and never looked back. The Wii was kind of like a gateway drug back into playing video games.
I haven't played it since maybe July/August.
It's nice in small doses, but if you overdo it you will just end up resenting the purchase. I also think the nostalgia effect plays a big part in it, too - but since I was never obsessed with classic Nintendo games I was never taken in by it, I guess.
I sort of feel the same way. Was a gaming addict throughout middle school untill late in my highschool years, and kind of stopped for other tail chasing activities in college. Durring that time, I played SC and CS online from time to time b/c I didn't have to dedicate so much time to it. Jump in for a quick battle and leave.
I picked up a Wii for my daughter's B-day, and it's turned me into an addict again. Started off playing Paper Mario, then Striker, then MP3, and decided to pick up Bioshock for my PC with a Video card update. Since then, I've played Gears, COD, and Portal. Finished them all.
I'm still playing the Wii as I got her Carnival games for Xmas, and Galaxy for myself. Galaxy is a blast, and I just picked up Nights.
