I got a Nintendo Wii for Christmas and today (on my birthday) I finally got the chance to hook it up to my TV/surround sound system for the first time.
I don't know how Nintendo does it, but I feel like a kid again playing the Wii. From the moment I turned it on til the moment I made my Mii, I was grinning from ear to ear. I popped in the Wii Sports games and started swinging my racket and bat, and began rolling strike after strike.
I haven't even bothered to open up Mario Galaxy which I got a few days ago from Target for $37. I've just been swinging/rolling away.
My best friend stopped by to bring me my birthday gift (he got me a Wii Classic controller) and he started playing the baseball game. He stepped right in, never even having touched a Wii before and just started batting away.
He's 27, and I just turned 28 and it reminded us of our days playing the original NES. I can't ever remember feeling this giddy when I opened up my Xbox 360 for the first time. Even when I played Gears of War, I don't even remember being that wowed by the graphics.
But the Wii, with its aliased, low polygon, relatively poor graphics has me coming back for more... and I haven't even gotten past the free game(s) yet.
I now see why Nintendo has sold so many of these things!
