Better an honest 480, than a dishonest 680 mess that is upscaled to 720 to convince some suckers that their game is hi-def.

It's fun, period.

You mean the fucktards that like to have fun AND enjoy good graphics?

It all comes down to preference. I personally prefer to play fun games where the characters actually have legs and don't float across the ground leaving an inexplicable trail of dust behind them. I also prefer to play games in hi-def on my $2000+ TV, not a blurry 480p mess.

If you dont agree with me, then let me know and in the future I can refer to you as the fucktard who doesnt care if the characters in his game have no legs.
And you're a fucktard who jacks off to screenshots of Assassin's Creed?

My wife got me one as a suprise for my birthday back in April. I can say that there have been some periods that i havent' played it a whole lot but I finished Zelda, and still get into Wii Play and Sports. She enjoys playing those games from time to time but this christmas we got Carnival games and I cannot get her away from the thing. She literally plays it for a few hours every day since we've gotten it. I'm really excited for her because its a game that she can be good at and have fun playing and its not complicated at all. I enjoy it too and I realize its not a really high rated game but its just perfect for her. I think that makes the system completely worthwhile that she enjoys it as much as I do.

Also got mario and sonic olympic games but we havent even opened that yet. Probably going to get Mario Galaxy in a few weeks. I'm really excited about the thing especially considering I havent played videogames much in the last several years.

I knew this thread would turn out well. I had no idea there would be Halo bashing though.

Let's just see how long this honeymoon lasts. It seems that nearly everyone loves the Wii when they first get it, but after that people seem to get split into two distinct groups rather quickly. One group continues enjoying the Wii while the other quickly loses their love affair with the system and quits playing. Unfortunately, I'm in the latter group. I loved it the first couple of weeks, but now it just collects dust. When a game actually launches that is worth a damn (which isn't often) I'll go back to enjoying it for a week or so, but then it's right back to collecting dust and disappointment.

That's such a piss poor argument that it should be deleted. Are you seriously trying to denounce the Wii because a game with a cartoon-like style has characters that are, funny enough, rendered and behave in a cartoon-like style? That makes about as much sense as saying "The 360 sucks because Master Chief doesn't show his face." Yeah. Chew on that.

Once you realize that we can touch on the piss stain of a comment that goes something like "ZOMG I HAVE A $2000 TV SO CLEARLY I HAVE MORE FUN AND MY OPINION MATTERS MORE THAN YOUR'S!"

Wow... you guys are really jumping on Matt2 for no reason. He stated up front that it was a preference. So he doesn't like cartoony games and he likes HD games on his HDTV. I fail to see the problem with that. Granted, his last comment was flame bait, but it was in response to a flame bait comment.

I wasn't bashing Halo, it's just a different experience and a different kind of gamer that will spend a lot of time with a Wii and one who will spend a lot of time in Halo 3.

At the end of the day, the Wii is a system that you can enjoy great 1st party titles on like SMG and MP3, and occasionally get the good or great 3rd party title like Zak and Wiki.

Wii definitely gets the bulk of the shovelware tho, Ninjabread Man, a crappy port of every CG movie based game out there with waggle tacked on for good measure. You really have to watch where you put your money or you'll end up with a game that was perfectly good on the PS3 and XBox 360, but was turned to shit by forcing wiimote/nunchuk action on the Wii, like Tomb Raider Anniversary.

Super Paper Mario and Metroid Prime 3. Go get them. And Rayman Raving Rabbids 2. That game is hilariously fun with friends. And yes, there's ton of shovelware for the wii.

i hope we can see more good games, but even if it tanks like the gamecube, I still find myself enjoying a game of bowling every so often.

Glad to see you fired up Super Mario Galaxy ... I'm addicted to that game already ... most of my previous time was spent on playing Tiger Woods golf, Metroid Prime 3 and Wii Sports. Now none of them even get put into the drive, not until I have all the damn stars! :D

I used to play video games a ton as a kid, but then around high school/college I just stopped. Partially because I got into PC games, but also because console gaming was expensive.

I first got a Wii and I was immediately back into video games. It's fun, easy to pick up, and great in groups.

The biggest issue with the Wii and its games is depth - there just isn't much. When I finally realized this, I wanted more, so I got a 360 and never looked back. The Wii was kind of like a gateway drug back into playing video games.

I haven't played it since maybe July/August.

It's nice in small doses, but if you overdo it you will just end up resenting the purchase. I also think the nostalgia effect plays a big part in it, too - but since I was never obsessed with classic Nintendo games I was never taken in by it, I guess.

It likely will hold my interest longer than the 360. I had the 360 for nearly 9 months, and I wasn't truly wowed at all by the games that I had. There's only but so much button mashing I can take.

The input scheme for the Wii is what makes the difference from me and helps me look past the graphics.

As I said before, the 360 set the bar for me. None of the games really held any interest for me. I only played Gears of War for about 2 hours total. I never even got past the first two stages before getting bored. I was never really big into Halo either. All the games I played bored me to death.

To tell you the truth, the games that I played the most on my Xbox 360 were the Live Marketplace games: Uno and that Free marbles game (I think it was a marbles game -- it had colorful pieces and you had to match up colors and shapes vertically).

Maybe that's why I tired easily of the wow factor games and am more easily entertained by the Wii.

The only downside to the Wii so far is that my right arm/shoulder hurts like a bitch today -- I'm truly out of shape :p

and my suggestion stil stands. in 2 months come back to this thread and just tell us how you feel about it.

i'm not saying you will hate it or anything, i'm just curious because most people love it then the novelty wears off and it just sits there. happened to me and the other 3 people i know IRL who have the Wii. other than mario galaxy it hasn't gotten played in a long ass time, and now that i'm done w/mario galaxy there really is not 1 game i know of coming to the Wii that i care about. if my fiancee's nephews and brother didn't ever play it, or that random person who wants to play wii bowling comes over, i would probably sell it.

Not everyone is like you. That and I think the Wii is just geared towards a completely different genre of gaming. A little disappointing because I would LOVE to see a good FPS on the system. I can't justify an xbox just for that, mainly because I can't stand dual analog sticks for an FPS. But if it had a kb/mouse, I'd have one.

But the Wii is more pick up and play for a little while, and do it again in a few days, maybe next week. Not the every-day-i-have-to-play folks. I dunno where those people have the time. The few people I know who have Wii's love it. They play when they can, and enjoy it.

You keep mentioning that most people love it, and then the novelty wears off, as if you're expecting it to happen to everyone. I should have been more general in that not everyone feels that way.

Please. How is coming in to a thread titled "Just got a Wii" and posting about the superior graphics on the 360 not intentionally problematic. It may be personal preference, but if you put it in perspective it's like saying "Well that was a dumb choice."

You can't tell tone of voice from text, but I'm preeeetttty sure he's mocking the Wii the whole way through the post.

Sadly, the fun wears off fast for me. There is too much shovelware, and not enough really good games, imo. My daughter still enjoys it a lot still. Me, not so much. Once you go thru Mario, Link, and maybe one or two more, there isnt much left. Except for the kids.

Even she mentioned why it doesnt look very good though. Stretched across a 57" WS TV.. it really is rather poor looking. No games are not all about graphics, but it does help.

Again, he was responding to a post that basically called anyone that cared about graphics "fvcktards". I would agree with you except you for his post was a reponse, not the initial flame bait.

I've got Zelda, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, and Galaxy. I have yet to finish any of them. In each case I just got bored. Not that they were bad games, they just couldn't hold my interest. None deviate that far from their previous incarnations and for 3 of the 4 the motion controls don't really add anything. MP3 is the only one that I really felt makes good use of the Wiimote's motion abilities rather than feeling tacked on. I'm sure you could easily argue that many games on other systems don't deviate far from previous games, but if given the choice between a game that looks new, but plays like other games versus games that both look old and play old... I'll take the new looking games.

Again, I don't hate the system at all and I'm fine if other people love it, but to me it has so far been the N64 Part 3... good 1st party games with virtually nothing else to choose from. The problem is that back on the N64 many of these series were fresh, but now they're just stale.. even with the motion controls tacked on. My experience is much the same as purbeast0 in that I loved it at first, but I quickly grew bored with the system and went back to the other systems. Several of my best friends also have the Wii and they have done the exact same thing I have. Of course, one of them has two little girls that play the system every day so at least his system gets a lot of use. Mine just sites there collecting dust.

I don't think he said or meant that at all. He's just pointing out that nearly everyone is infatuated with the system upon first getting it, but many quickly lose interest. He's just curious which camp you will ultimately fall into.
