i guess this person would rather i called them a$$hole.

You can call me anything but late for dinner....

/supercheese

I certainly would not feel comfortable if a two-faced woman addressed me as such. However, I wouldn't bother giving her the attention to let her know how I felt, unless she initiated the private messages. I also think it would seem inappropriate to address an older woman that way ? unless of course one intended to insult her, or one didn't know she was older. Otherwise, I generally don't have trouble with that term of endearment. Someone at my workplace uses that term occasionally. It feels weird, but I appreciate it.

Go on with your bad self, Adica! ;)

I don't think you should take it too personally. A lot of people find "hun" to be patronizing and its always hard to tell how somebody means something without hearing their voice.

If you call someone "hon" it could easily be taken as some sort of sarcasm. I hate it when someone calls me "guy" or "friend" etc...

my thoughts exactly....and that is exactly how is was meant. Don't let her fool ya.
i think i should have you called you an attention whore. that was more fitting.

someone PMs you a personal preference (i don't like being called "hon" either) and you make it public, so who is the attention whore again?

again, what's the big deal. someone pm's you a PERSONAL preference, they don't dress you down in public, they PM you. you then complain to everyone publicly. would you have preferred this person state his preference in public?

i personally hate the term "hon". grew up with it down south and hated it there. you don't get nearly as much of that up north.

i wouldn't have cared if this person addressed me in public. in fact, i welcome it.

and as far as this thread being a "big deal" - it isn't, just like most of the threads in OT. it is just something to post about.

chill hon.

Why did this need to be made into a thread. Just don't call the person "hon" again and the problem is solved. I think someone needed a little attention.
