And my Internet connection is on the verge of being disconnected. 🙁 Last week I did have a virus infection on one of my computers ... something called Spysherrif which also changed my wallpaper to something with a message in the center telling me that my computer has been infected .. no sh*t!

Anyone heard of this Spysherrif crap?

One of your boxes have been compromised.

Sorry. If you have Spy Sherrif which is an offshoot of the Look2Me spyware. Basically if you don't have a lot of data on your computer, format your unit. Otherwise, do a backup and then format and reinstall Windows. Make sure that if you do not have Windows with SP2 on a CD then do not connect your box to the net. After reinstalling use another box to download and burn SP2 to a cd and install that.

YEP!!!

Format and then reinstall OS. After that put on Spybot, adaware, and mircosofts anti-spyware software (ALL free). A decent firewall would not hurt either.
 
Thanks for the reponses guys. Formatting is not an option at this time as I am VERY busy with exams and plus I have a lot of data to backup and the ISP's not going to hold off any longer.

I am running scans right now so I can catch this basta*d!

Stick ZoneAlarm on your system and block all unknown outbound connections.

Kiss butt to your ISP and explain what happened and that you are now aware of the need to have safe "sex" when on the internet.😛
 
I think it's all good now. Got rid of Spysherrif once and for all, hopefully. I guess I am not a n00b after all 🙂.

edit: I do have Zone Alarm running right now at maximum security levels. I had it turned off for some reason when I got the virus a week ago.
