No worries guys....if I do happen to catch him/them breaking into the house I'm not planning on emptying my clip into him/them. One shot each should do it. Although I do have a habit of firing my first shot low if I have to draw really fast......then again that first shot still hits them in the torso 99% of the time and with the added bonus of it going through their crotch. I practice at a range, plus it's just a way I relax, here every third Thursday and from time to time they hold competitions in different areas. I'm pretty well known for my habit of crotch shooting on the quick draw.....one of the the old timers at the range is always telling me that I give new meaning to the term "dead eye dick"

The Hasting's case in the U.K really has no bearing on this situation. British courts are known for being notoriously leftist in cases like this. I love England but stupid rulings like that are one reason I'm glad I don't live there.
I say if you catch these people trying something take them out using all force you deem necessary. They deserve everything they get. Good luck.

Quite a thread we've got here, I'm enjoying it. *picturing shinerburke stalking through his darkened house with night vision and a 915 in hand* hot, very hot  ;)

Good luck with the situation!

UPDATE!!

I just got home from work about 20 minutes ago, my 40 hours were up at about 1pm CST and since I'm on salary I got the hell out of there before something else went wrong, and there was a message on my machine from the officer that came out here the other night. Seems that the bad guys in the van were caught about 4 blocks over this morning robbing a house. They had loaded up various electronics, household items, etc, and when the police arrived they were in the process of ripping up carpet from one of the rooms to steal it. Why someone would steal carpet I have no freaking idea. The message also said they would most likely be going away for a while since one of them was on probation from a previous crime and the other is likely going away for a while since after the arrest they searched each of their houses and the second guy was "allegedly", I love it when they catch someone red handed and still use that word, running a meth lab. Case closed.......really too bad someone didn't get the chance to rid the world of these two upstanding citizens.

Always good to hear about a couple of thugs getting what (or at least some of what) they deserve. :D

This thread reminds me of the end of Braveheart where you see the mob of Brits clammoring for the executioner to chop Wallace's head off.

I'm glad that they have been caught and also that you didn't have to make a mess. I know that you probably would have liked to make a mess out of these two, but it's really not worth having that on your conscience. Trust me.

I told the officer that and he reminded me to make sure they were in the house before I called them to report the shooting. Kind of a "They're coming right for us!" tactic.

This reminds me of many of the officers I worked with. Typical comments were along the lines of: "If he's coming into your home, wait until he's fully inside before you do anything.", "If he's half through the window, he could fall back outside and that would be bad for you.", "If you do happen to be defending your home make sure he's dead. Dead men don't sue."

I can't tell you how many times those sentiments were spoken by the various officers. Sounds like things haven't changed.

Just curious, is it legal to openly state you wanna kill someone who enters your house? Kinda takes the spontaneity out of it and makes it sound premeditated... I'm not law major, just asking :)

Nope....you have the right to defend your property from intruders. Now if I were to have said "The next time Jeff comes over I'm going to kill him" it would be a different matter.

Careful. Just some friendly advice, but I'm guessing you aren't sanctioned by the Bar to be giving legal advice. To the best of your knowledge, and mine, what you say may be true. But we aren't lawyers (at least I know I'm not) and giving legal advice can sometimes get you in more trouble than shooting someone. Expecially life and death legal advice.
