the hardest papers are not that ones that are longest. The hardest papers are the shortest ones. I remember in my upper division English class (required to graduate), our teacher gave us a max page limit of 1 page and 2 page essays. Those were hard to keep (especially a single page one) and they had to be proper essays with thesis, body and conclusion. The whole class was relieved when for the final essay, she gave us a 4 page limit.

I remember playing with the font size so that everything fitted on one page :p

my longest would be my code from some of my CS classes (few hundred pages). Longest essay is probably ~8-10 pages (very easy to fill)

31 pages, musical analysis. I'm working on my MA thesis right now, shooting for 60-80 pages.

Undergrad, Business capstone class. Group paper was 50+ pages on a start-up company's business plan. Class was 1 quarter in length.

Longest I've written was about 50 pages, but I co-wrote that with a friend. The longest I've written on my own was only 10 pages. I guess have a lot to look forward to.

like a true procrastinator. I am going to miss those days when I graduate in a year.

I smiled when I read silverpig's post. I can't believe the professor would read that many pages from all of his students, too.

ermm... my longest was like 8 or 9 pages, and I thought it was hell coming up with enough content for that. I don't remember the subject, but it was for an english class which is obviously not my strong suit.

I'll probably be writing bigger papers once I transfer from a community college to a university.

My longest so far have been my Master's thesis proposal (36 pages), an assessment instrument design paper for a psych measurement class (21 pages), and a research paper for child psychopathology (20 pages). The proposal definitely took the most time and effort of the three, though, and will likely be somewhere around 70-90 pages once it's actually in thesis form. Joy.

87 page senior thesis

It's not a research paper, like the kind you write from numerous sources or something, it's all based on my own findings. I guess with footnotes add one or two pages?

I might consider posting it once it is approved and I have my diploma in-hand. Until then, I'm keeping it under wraps.

Ya, we have some possible patent issues, so it's not a good idea. Plus, where the heck could I host a 13MB PDF? I'm not giving the password to our personal server, that's for sure!

28 pages is nothing. My weekly college lab reports were usually on the order of 20-30 pages long. My thesis has over 50 pages of appendices.

I think I've had lab reports that were up to 50 pages. I also had a few projects that had 70-100 page papers. And my thesis was about 130 pgs.

I think my Senior English final in high school was longer than that. Our final was, "Write everything you learned in class this semester."

i prepare ~30 page environmental reports at my work. actually though, theyre written from a template, so a lot is written already, and there's a lot of page breaks, bullets, etc. in college my biggest paper was maybe 10-15 pages, for a geological report. most of my classes were science and math.

10 pages for a Constitutional Law elective.
But I made it a point not to take classes with lengthy papers of any kind. The 10 pager was a surprise but I banged it out in 4 hours and got a B+. Good times.

Hmm, including diagrams, my longest was probably a Comp Engineering lab report that was 70 or so pages.

Not including diagrams, I can't remember exactly which paper was my longest.

I do remember having to do 15-20 page reports in high school for AP Gov't however :|

The longest college paper I've ever written was probably 15-20 pages. It wasn't even for me. I "helped" my older sister with this literary essay on some obscure book. I was in high school at the time. Since she couldn't pass her writing skills exit exam, the university gave her the option of taking this writing class. If she didn't pass, she wouldn't get her accounting degree (lol).

My mom urged (read: guilt-tripped) me to "help" her. What ended up happening was something on the lines of:

1). sister: I don't understand this chapter!
2). I read that chapter, then jot down notes/mark pages
3). sister: I don't know how to write what I want to say.
4). I end up reading the 2 or 3 sentences she wrote in very very broken English (blatant display of lack of effort--she doesn't even proofread her own stuff).
5). She sits there and watches me type and every few minutes blurt out, "Wow almost 1 page already."
6). Finally I got frustrated and just wrote the entire paper over the course of a week.
7). Profit--my writing skills wouldn't have developed as much as they have had I not been forced to write all of those papers for her.

Yeah it's a semi-rant. My point is, writing a lot is good for you (well, when you're not pressured to do someone else's work). :)
