... and holy shit, how did it get canceled?!

I've read many people say that the series was great and finally got around to watching the DVD's during the past few nights. I remember watching Serenity years back when it was in theater not knowing that there was a show behind it.

indeed, Firefly was amazing. Nathan Fillion is great. i loved the series, and Serenity was a great movie as well.
 
FireFly was a superb series and Serenity was an awesome movie. I watched both the series and the movie through 3-4 times. 🙂

Too bad it's over and done. 🙁

Not me. It was a good enough show, but it was advertised poorly, run out of order, and costly to make. A lot of good shows get canceled after a half season order. The show never really found its audience. Even when the movie came out after years of DVD fans, the movie fared poorly despite good reviews.

The fact is that the show was not suited for broadcast TV and Sci Fi network wasn't really into original programming at the time. If it came out on sci fi today I bet it would do quite well.

Most of Josh's other projects sucked balls, like Buffy the improbable teenybopper Vampire Slayer and the equally improbable Angel.

Josh really redeemed himself on Firefly. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
 
I tried watching Buffy after watching Firefly because I figured if Firefly was so good, then Buffy can't be half bad. I was wrong. It is horrible.
 
I watched Serenity first and thought it was funny but didn't quite understand the hype. Then I just finished Firefly last night on hulu and now I really want to watch the movie again. It definitely helps to have more time to build a background to all those characters.
 
It started with an "F", ran on Fox, and premiered on a Friday.

See: Family Guy, Futurama, Farscape (although not all of these premiered on Friday).

arrested development is another example.

firefly was good, i thought it was a little cheesy or something but it was fun and easy to watch.

Box set $25 FTW, but have watched it about 3x through before I bought it 🙂

I love that series, its great. Unfortunately nobody knew how great it was until it had already been canceled 🙁
