If you have a Big Lots nearby you might check there. Reports in the Big Lots thread over at DVDTalk.com is that Firefly and Heroes Season 1 have been spotted for $3 each. I haven't spotted any at my nearest one yet, but I try to check every day now since I expect that they would be gone quickly. I intend to buy all of the copies I can get and give them away as presents. I already own both.

I finally saw Serenity for the first time this past Wednesday: loved it. I'm thinking about picking up the Firefly box set. Don't think I can go wrong since I liked Buffy and loved Angel. The cast in Firefly is pretty good too; seen most of them on the aforementioned series before.

A) I think jagec means futurama since farscape was on sci fi

B) arrested development is NOT another example. That show suffered poor ratings for its entire run. Fox let it go for almost 3 full seasons despite poor ratings. It's a shame it was canceled, but it was given more than a fair shake, unlike Firefly.

C) Buffy got good after the first season. The plots, like firefly, were complete B level trash recycled from every cliche in the genre. But the dialogue and character interactions got to be quite good. The show never got over itself in terms of the love stories, which IMO prevent it from being a great show overall. Seemed like Firefly was heading down the same path, though, with the "love" story between Inara and Mal... so stupid it made me want to vomit every time it came up.

D) Futurama is kind of "uncanceled" in that they are making a bunch of movies (including the already released bender's big score) and turning them into individual episodes

E) The new BSG is significantly better than Firefly... definitely worth watching

F) Serenity sucked

G) Jayne was a fun character but I really didn't care for the local hero tar pit episode one bit.

I watched serenity, I really didnt like it, never watched the series but got the movie based on recommendations. I didnt really dig the story and it just seemed kinda cheesy.
