Just discovered Bit torrent

Bit torrent isn't illegal. Discussions are allowed, provided they're not of the subject: "Where can I download movies?" etc.

It's a great way to get linux isos, movie trailers, game demos, and other things. Actually, there was a thread posted a few days ago with a link to a video of a guy doing a 9hr drive condensed into 6 minutes or something like that. I don't know how fast his server was, but he had a bit torrent link as well. I used that and got something like 530 KB/s on it.

i can't afford to download everything as they come out. but bt often has things that are years old.
 
My usenet server is also incontinent. 🙁

it's my impression that most isp servers aren't that good in retention. the selection just isn't as complete as good bt sites or emule if you aren't a downloading junkie who downloads everything as they get posted

if u pay, well that puts it in an entirely different category then

The thing is, most of the free bt sites offer cool dls but nobody seeds/shares so there are probably like fifty people trying to just leech and they are getting 0kbps anyways. It's annoying. Whenever someone lets me dl I seed for as long as I can. I hate leechers.

there are a bunch of sites, and they all host illegal crap as well as legal things, i use BT mainily for Anime and the occasional Game Demo and Linux ISO, if OK to use as long as your not pirateing anything or pissing off the MPAA/RIAA
