Well just found out from this old article from 2007 that crawfish actually live in Illinois where I live. I wonder if they are available in Horseshoe Lake. However I'm not sure they will be safe to eat caught from there.

hmm, buddy found a dude that charged ~$80 to airship 40lbs of mud bugs up to Baltimore in May of last year. I think it is kinda after the prime season? We did a boil in the backyard. I couldn't believe the price, though. Plane departed LA in the morning and arrived in MD, and picked up by 6pm.

That sounds cheap, don't mudbugs cost more then that?

Did he need the cockpit hours? That's an absurdly low price.

How do you convince someone who isn't inclined to eat something that looks like a bug to eat a crayfish?

Just checked again. It was 30lbs, but yes, $80 or maybe slightly less, even, to pick them up at BWI. Yes, it was stunningly cheap. Not sure if it has to do with it being relatively late in the season, or what, but that is what happened.

I think if when I try crawdads for the first time, it will be a dish made with it. I'm not sure I would be grossed out by taking one apart, especially with seeing the guts.
