Never heard of anyone liking JBM, and I know a LOT of coffee roasters.

It might be because coffee connoisseurs at that level have trained themselves to prefer more subtle and unusual flavors.

JBM doesn't have any peculiar flavor, it's just extremely well rounded and smooth coffee, with lower acidity than some of the South American or African coffees. Sure, the experts might not prefer it, but I sure do.

I'm sure there's some bias among roasters, as well, kind of like how oenophiles prefer the more exotic wines, but in blind tests most people prefer common, cheap wines.

This just in, coffee is a learned taste. 100% Kona is expensive so, most people don't drink it. You could line up cups of Bud Lite and a good Belgian Ale and most people (Americans) would pick the Bud Lite as the "better" beer.

If you intend Stella as one of your Belgians. I would prefer many domestics over that. Now Chimay or the like, yeah.

For everyday coffee, I love Dunkin. Peet's is better, but Dunkin is on sale all the time.
For gourmet coffee, I'm all over the place. I just like quality.
I avoid Starbucks. The quality is decent, just prefer others.
Oh Canadia. Your Tim Hortons sucks.

100% kona is good...but not something id drink first thing in the morning for a kick start. Its way too mild and smooth.

Exactly. People who like the taste of alcohol and nicotine are drug addicts. It's that simple. They're in the same category as people who enjoy the bold taste of black coffee because it makes their withdrawal headaches go away.

umm, no.

In enjoy bitter, sour, and spicy foods and drinks, with or without alcohol.

I drink quite a bit of coffee, and have occasionally had a headache after 2-3 days without, so I'm not claiming there can never be a withdrawal.

It's fairly common for alcoholics to have a strong dislike for the taste of alcohol.

FBB, what exact "Kona Coffee" did you use for your tests?

You DO realize that kona coffee varies a considerable amount, depending on the individual strain grown by the growers...and by the way it's roasted at the various roasters...

Beans are not all the same.
