The calm before the storm. 40 to 60 cm expected overnight. Although looking at the radar I think we're only going to get a bit of snow around 7pm then the brunt of the storm will hit us late tomorrow.

About 20f right now. Getting 3 inches of wet snow. Have about 7 inches at work to clean up as well before morning. Prob need to wake up early and clean this mess up.

-10 feels like -20 and storm is in full swing right now. The snow is blowing so hard I can't actually see the beacon lights on the radio tower in front of my house.

Snow flurries & cold AF!
Yesterday it hit 75°F!! We were spared all the local tornado warnings and watches because it was mostly cloudy all day.
This is where I’ll be camped out for the foreseeable future. 🤣

This storm is brutal. Spent about 2 hours digging out the truck enough so I can move it, the street was worse than I thought, as soon as I tried to pull out I just got stuck. Managed to dig myself out and go back into the driveway. Called in to say I couldn't get to work. During that time the plow went by but now I had a huge drift to dig out of and my shift started in less than half an hour. My boss's street was done so he went to get my PC at the office to drop it off and I'm working from home now. At least it saves me from having to dig out twice tomorrow. I'll probably be expected in the office for the rest of my shifts though so I will still need to dig out once to go in but at least at the end of shift I'll already be home so I can just go straight to bed.
Walmart, some Tim Horton's, the mall and many other businesses were closed today, even the transit service and city hall was closed. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this happen here where they actually close stuff down. Most highways in the area are closed too, which is normal for most storms.
Weirdly enough it's not that crazy at work, just got routine stuff to deal with like a couple smaller outages and fibre theft. Routine stuff.

Just checked my cameras and this is what my deck looks like. There's a patio set in there somewhere. Going to need to clear the vents on the house too. One is for dryer and other is for bathroom fan, so not super critical. The gas meter vent is still out of the snow but barely. It's going to be a whole expedition just to even get back there.
Storm is not even over either, it's still going. I really hope my boss lets me work from home for tomorrow too.

Apparently we're at 65cm of snowfall so far. The current record for most snow in a 24h period here is 48.2cm in 1983. We're going into more than 24h at this point so not sure what the 24h number will be but I think it's safe to assume we beat the record.

Still lots of highway closures, but looks like plows are out in full force. Still very windy but snow has slowed down, it's mostly just the same snow being blown around now.
I have not managed to make it into my back yard yet since this started. Once I'm off I'm going to have to figure out a way to get snow off my solar panels as it's lot of weight on them. The long broom just doesn't cut it for this much snow, so really not sure how I'll go about it. Maybe a rope and I can try to cut into it.

Same here it has not stopped, there is less snow now it's mostly just wind blowing the snow around.Managed to make it into the office tonight but still need to do lot of work to open up driveway and also my walk way.
According to this article we got 60cm, or 2 feet. 2 feet makes it sound underwelming lol, but the fact that it drifted a lot makes it worse as some spots were much higher than that.

Not sure if this will beat any records at this point as I assume there's standardized ways to measure and not sure what number they will come up with. When it drifts like that it's hard to put an actual number on it as it varies so much.
I guess my neighbours were away for Christmas and just arrived, they had to use my driveway so they can even get to their house to unload their vehicle. Saw activity on my cameras and was trying to see what was going on then realized it was them unloading their stuff lol.
When I bought my electric snow blower I was a bit worried it would not be able to get through a storm like this but I have to say it actually did really well. The amount of snow we got was beyond what a snow blower this size can easily handle so even if I had a gas one the same size it would not have been any easier but it did manage. The only thing I wish I had on this one is tracks since it's lighter it does spin more when going through lot of snow that's higher than the snowblower itself.

Jeez 87F = 30.6C on Friday, the day after new years. This shit is just comical how warm this winter is in San Antonio. At this point I'm not even expecting a freeze overnight this winter. Can't believe I'm going to be running my AC in January.
