OK, I don't want to see any more snow. I have had enough now.

currently here:

Weather Alerts for: London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County

Warnings

2:56 PM EST Thursday 5 December 2024
Snow Squall Warning in effect for:
  • London - Parkhill - Eastern Middlesex County
Snow squalls continuing tonight.

Hazards:
Additional local snowfall with amounts of 20 to 30 cm.
Peak snowfall rates of 5 to 10 cm per hour.
Very poor to near zero visibility at times in heavy snow.

Timing:
Continuing tonight.

Discussion:
Lake effect snow off Lake Huron will continue to affect the region tonight.
Total snowfall accumulations exceeding 60 cm are possible especially if a single strong snow squall locks in for a few hours or more.

Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Road closures are possible.

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.

EDIT: just found out that all schools here are closed today. Over-night street parking is banned here until further notice. Parts of Highway 401 and 402 are closed due to accidents. OPP is advising people to stay off the roads.

Like I said earlier, been there done that when I lived in Syracuse. Lake Ontario crushed us on the regular!

In the six years I've lived here I have refused to take at least four road trips up north to see relatives. Never gonna see me north of the weed store in Cincinnati!

Fog past few days...

And yes, the road desperately needs resurfacing. Alas, just a very short county road that has no priority on it.

-11 with flurries here. I was sick as a dog a few days ago and we were in middle of a blizzard too. Went to ER, then to pharmacy and for each of those stops I had to take snow off the truck and have it come in my face while sick, not fun. Made it home and it has not moved since. I will dig it out and do the driveway when I'm back 100%. The snow plow came by as well, first time of the year.

I'm surprised they didn't test me for it actually, I might get a kit for fun just to see, but I'm pretty sure it's that walking pneumonia that's going around. Almost everyone at the office got it already, it was a matter of time until I do too. Although that could very well be a covid variant.

I asked my wife if it was too warm to have lunch outside. She said no but I did have to put shorts on.

-21C feels like -28.

Nice thing about it being this cold though is that it tends to be clear skies which is very rare at this time of year. Actually saw the moon and stars on way to work today.
