Everything is a solid sheet of ice right now. Nearly 1/2" of ice covering everything...but, it's finally above 32F, so it should start melting off.

Per my older daughter the standing-air (ie: "real") temp outside her home in Denver was -22 F early this morning... or -31 C!

THAT fully qualifies as "testicular-numbing" cold!

When temps get that low you need to think about covering your mouth and nose when breathing to prevent mucus-membranes from flash-freezing! (which can really hurt!)

details of the chaos in the area:

A string of crashes on area roads underscored the dangers posed by the winter storm. Early Friday afternoon, Ontario Provincial Police reported a pileup involving more than 50 vehicles on Hwy. 402 near Kerwood Road, which would be just west of Strathroy. That was announced just as police shut down the entire highway in both directions from London to Sarnia due to “extreme weather conditions.” Hours earlier, police closed Hwy. 401 in both directions from London to Tilbury after a series of collisions, including one involving 12 vehicles near Chatham-Kent. There were also reports of a pileup on the 401 near Wonderland Road and a collision on the 402 involving a fire truck. “It’s just chaos out there on the 402 between the 401 and Colonel Talbot Road, both east and westbound lanes,” London Fire Department platoon chief David Hood said Friday morning, noting there were no serious injuries. “There were multiple crashes and jack-knifed transport trucks in the ditch. I can’t even tell you how many fender-benders we’ve got out there right now.” Perth County shut down all its roads. The westbound 401 lanes at Culloden Road, near Woodstock, were also closed due to a crash.

Looks like you got all of your own plus 90% of the neighbors snow lol.

Guy across the street barely needs to shovel!

:D

no it just looks like a lot but it really isn't. not even 4" yet. The ice dam is left over from the plows of the last snow. I am in a cul de sac so.

Temp in manhattan dropped 30 degrees in the last hour. In the 20s but feels like the teens. Tomorrow's high is 20 and tonight's low is 11. Glad I have no plans and am atheist and don't celebrate Xmas!

It's not that cold where I am. Maybe less than 20C at night but I feel so ravenous! What about you guys? Do you find yourself munching more when it's cold?
