I would agree with you, but during his term as governor of Texas, Bush introduced and signed legislation that mandated strict mandatory minimum sentencing for first-time drug and alcohol offenders, the overwhelming majority of whom are usually "young and dumb" as well.

That hypocrisy may be lost on you (among many others), but not on me.
I'm a libertarian and think it should be legalized. Tired of the government telling me and others what I can and can't do in the privacy of my own house. REpublicans are anti-drug so he was merely towing the party line.
I agree.

However, my point was that GW expects us to forgive him for the foolishness of his youth, while signing legislation designed specifically to severely punish others for theirs. What I cannot forgive there is his hypocrisy.

The general consensus is that he was a Coke user but, afaik, he's never admitted it.

I have a policy that I have always abided by. I never give out more than general information. My city is posted on my account, but that is all I will ever put on a public board. Ever. I don't post pics of my kids, give details of my employment, past or present. There are a few people who know more than that, but I simply do not give out more information than is needed on a public board.

That's good advice . There are people who would screw your whole life up just for saying something that irked them. That is if they could get your identity.

Can you say Perknose?

Can you say Texmaster? (of course, signing you up for gay porn is a little childish)

Can you say Dari? (of course saying and doing are 2 different things)

Some say he was arrested for cocaine possession and managed to get off with community
service 'cause his daddy sort of owned the judge as it were. Some also say part of his not
actually showing up for NG duty was that he didn't want to be tested for drugs at a time
when the NG had started testing for drug use. Of course Bush got paid for NG duty but not a
single person can vouch for his ever showing up for his time of service in question including
the commander at the base in Alabama. But I digress. Bush denies everything, but at some
point in people's lives lying comes as naturally as breathing. Naturally any public record of
his arrest for cocaine have disappeared. I guess he wasn't so lucky with his DUI. Decide for
yourself. Of course I believe whatever Fox News says, so I am completely convinced that GW
never made a mistake in his life and is the most perfect person who ever lived.

I on the other hand could care less what he did back then. I think many of us have at least tried coke, pot, whatever. I think most of Americans, as you are going to come to find in November, thinks this guy is an a$$hole NOW. We can judge him based solely on the last 4 years thanks very much and using that as a litmus test, he fails miserably.

The issue isn't his "youthful" indiscretion
rolleye.gif
, it's his hypocrisy about it. It's the same issue with Limbaugh.

So that's why the ~!s and the ~buts are wetting their pants over these two issues? OK

Obviously because it's an election year. Does that diminish it somehow? If you do a search, you might find questions where I raised the "Why is Bush's supposed AWOL not an issue in the media?" and "Has Bush ever given an acceptable answer?" questions. See, people were wondering this before the election craze. ;)

Are you at all curious about the lack of supporting documentation CAD?

What were your thoughts when the issue of Clintons (non)service was questioned by his opponents?

Nope - I'm not curious because it was hashed out in 2000. Now there are pay records...(still not good enough:roll;) and now even dental records won't be enough for the ~buts and certainly not enough for the ~!s.;)

As for the coke thing - unless I see some documentation concerning use during service to the US - I won't even give it a second thought because it's just an accusation. Clinton inhaling is funny and gets repeated because of the stellar lawyer answer/excuse he gave. (see I pre-empted your Clinton weed question that was coming didn't I?;))

Take off the partisan blinders.. what if it were true?

Does Rush still think that first time drug offenders should be sent to prison? Why doesn't he volunteer? < to go to prison that is...
