Just recently got this off steam for 15$ and it's ridiculously fun. Is the first one just as good? Because I am going to be :( when this is over.

I couldn't really get into the first one. I always felt I was in some sort of amusement park with objects going by on tracks instead of a living, breathing world.

But that might just be me.

Don't worry. While the campaign is fairly short, it's going to take you a looooonnnng time to actually 100% everything. I have ~40 hours logged in the game and I think I only have 35% completed or something.

You're right though; Just Cause 2 is absolutely phenomenal, and one of the funnest games to currently exist *ever*. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't know how to have fun and/or doesn't know what fun is. I've seen some people say "eh, it wasn't that interesting" and it completely blows my mind as to how anyone would think that way.

What do you mean you cant play it? You dont like it or its not working?

Needs win 7 and DX11.
My game system is XP cuz thats what plays all the games I like. Including Skyrim. Frankly the day I NEED Win7 to play games is the day I stop gaming. Most new stuff doesnt thrill me. If the new Fallout needs Win7 then I got a conundrum.

Agreed, im a sucker for a sandox free roam style game but this one is just amazing. If people say its not that interesting I guess I understand as the story and voice acting is less than stellar. But it entertains big time through gameplay alone, not too mention the immense beauty and scope of the island setting. I havent had this much fun with a game since mario 64 broke the platforming mold years ago.

Most new stuff may not thrill you, but i think i would make an exception for this one.

Just Cause 2 is indeed an excellent game.

The story/dialog is godawful though. That killed it a lot for me.

Yup. Some of the worst voice acting and story of any game. Despite all that, I'm shocked at how much time I've dumped into it and fun I had. Then if you add mods onto that it makes things that much better. It's one of those games where the fun is what you make of it. They give you an open world and it's up to you to find your own fun. The story mode isn't as fun.

JC2 is awesome. I still play it on and off for an hour or so. Finished the campaign a LONG time ago. :)
It's got amazing game mechanics (grappling hook, driving/flying ANY vehicle, parachuting).
Jumping a motorcycle off the flying club, then freefalling until you open your parachute is awesome.
The BOLO patch/black market makes it even better!
The sound in the game is great too, it is a superb 5.1 experience!

The main reason I didn't stay with the game was the rather boring, generic AI.

Playing with the mechanics of the game provides a lot of fun, though.

The game did get boring to me, but only after I put 50 hours in. That's extraordinary for me. Any game that can keep me interested more than 15 hours is a winner in my book. I realize that's very short for some gamers, but I work for a living so it suits me better. Other than Wow, I think the only other games I've dumped that much time into recently is Skyrim and Civ V.

Lmao welcome to maturity. Your finding that less thrills you because you're older and less susceptible to the marketing. Also, your more likely to identify a crappy game in advance. I've been gaming since the XT days, and I'm still amazed at some of the games I absolutely loved as a teen that bore the crap out of me now. :)

I wouldn't NOT upgrade to Windows 7 just because of gaming, nor would I upgrade because of it. On a side note, my Window 7-64 install has better XP compatibility with many of my older games than XP SP3 did, so take that for what its worth. Games that simply would not run under XP run fine under Win7. I know it sounds ridiculous but it's true. I'm able to play C&C Generals now, and I couldn't get it to run for anything with my XP install. Go figure.

Just Cause 2 does not need Win 7 + DirectX 11. I'm not sure where you got that one. All you need is at least Vista and a DirectX 10-capable card.

I loved it but got bored after about 15 hours. That's still a decent amount of time especially since I got it on a Steam deal.

I think the point is that he uses XP, and as long as he uses XP then he'll be incapable of playing the game.

Really though, I can't think of a single XP-only game I have that I couldn't get to work on Windows 7. At most, there's minimal tweaking involved. Google can bring up a guide for making just about any old game to work on newer systems.

IMO there's absolutely no reason to use XP anymore. Just upgrade already; it's better late than never. If you're absolutely hell-bent on keeping XP for compatibility purposes, then look into making a dual-boot setup with both operating systems installed on the same computer.

As Zero Punctuation said, it's a game for going ****ing bananas. I personally enjoy it a lot every now and then.

I played it for 53 minutes, over 6 months ago according to Steam. Soon I realized that I couldn't survive against attack helicopters and that sucked the fun out of the game. Never played again.

Grapple onto the helicopter, beat the shit out of the pilot, throw him out, and hijack it?
