We had a 2005 Ford Escape and it was solid. When it was time for a new car we didn't look at the new Escape due to the styling, while most people like the new look we preferred the old "jeep" look. Picked up an Explorer though.

The Edge is a superior vehicle overall to the Escapes, including the crash test results. And it scores worse in crash tests compared to the previous Escape redesigns. Look at the tiny amount of space they now allow you for your legs and knees. Your knees are going to be instantly broken in an accident with that tight of a configuration, and I found the seats to be particularly uncomfortable after a long ride, right at the point where the seats end behind the knees, oddly enough. And I could not adjust the seat in a comfortable position to alleviate this constant pressure behind the knees on the legs.

On the flip side, it handles really well and the controls are very ergonomic and user friendly. But unfortunately I found the ride on a long trip to be a bit stiff, especially with the poorly designed seats pounding into the backs of my legs over every tiny bump in the road.

The new Escape redesign was a big step down overall, in my opinion. But then again, it probably wasn't designed with a nearly 6 foot tall person in mind in the first place.
I feel perfectly comfortable in an Escape (6' 2"), but I'm used to a car, so who knows...

Grats though, OP. Nice car.

My Camry Hybrid was made in America as was my wife's Lexus ES350. :colbert:

Yep, so was my parent's 96 camry, 04, 05, and 07 accords, and rx350 (canadian).

so glad to finally get a made in japan IS350

congrats on your escape. i'm always impressed with all the fords i get as rentals. like someone else said, GM and Chrysler don't even come close to matching their quality. recently drove fusion, escape, equinox and 200. 200 was a complete joke of a car and equinox was just not as nice as the escape

congrats. what engine does yours have? Had a escape rental a few years back in CO, with one of the turbos, really enjoyable.

I have the one with 2.0L Eco Boost? Not sure if that answers the question....I don't know anything about car parts 🙂

We got a 2015 Ford Edge a few months back. Pretty nice!

I also replaced my beater about 2 months ago with a used 2013 Dodge Dart. It had some transmission issues right away and it was "fixed". I know, big problem, yadda, yadda, but it's actually pretty nice. Especially for what I paid for it.

How are ya'll liking the Edge so far? Would you say the reviews of a very quiet ride are true?

Wow, I went to CO in 2014 and also got an Escape as a rental, was a fun little ride for the mountain roads. The infotainment center was a bit overwhelming at first but once that was figured out was a nice ride.

My Shelby convertible will kick your ass!

You and Boberfett should get a room and hang out.

Anyway OP, looks nice to me, I grew up with my father being a Foreman at GM, he was pretty anti Ford, but my current Mazda 3 has many Ford parts in it and have loved it a long time.

He actually saw it before he passed away and didn't even used to let people with foreign cars park in the driveway, I did and mentioned that as a joke and he just laughed a bit and said, "it doesn't really matter these days".

Grats on the new ride, it's a great feeling isn't it? Ford does seem to be making good cars now, I know two people who just got pretty much the same car and they both love it.

Heated seats though? For Virginia? Sorry, to a northerner that's pretty funny.

Congratulations! 🙂

I looked at a Mustang today and might soon be buying my first Ford.

I've been eyeballing a Mustang too. Only problem is it's a 2-month delivery time for the one I want, so it wouldn't come until it's snowing, and I live on a hill that I can't even get up with a FWD car

btw nice OP!
