Just bought a 24 pack of Sam Adams Oktoberfest at Costco

I gotta say Sam Adams Octoberfest is probably one of my favorite beers now. It isn't as bitter as their regular lager, but it still tastes great and is very drinkable. I also really like Summer Ale and Cream Stout. I'm not as big a fan of Cherry Wheat, but to each his own.

Summer Ale is really good and I just had some Cream last week. I got the Brewmasters box. MMMMMM

Tried some Harvest Moon while grillin yesterday.

.......yes it's from Blue Moon but I thought it was tasty. Not too strong on the pumpkin and spice taste also not too heavy neither.

I have some Oktoberfest in our fridge and I simply cannot drink it - it's too "wheaty" and heavy. I still haven't developed a taste for beer. The best I can do is Corona and possibly Lion's Head... how long does it take to develop a taste for "better" beers?

Sam Adams Oktoberfest is malty, not wheaty. You sure you drank Otkoberfest?

Sam Addams Octoberfest and Summer Ale are the best.

i dont like the Winter or the Cherry Wheat varieties...

Oh yeah...I've been drinking the Blue Moon Harvest Blend. Beer with a bit of spice to it. Very drinkable.

I have always liked Oktoberfest from Sam Adams, and have been through a case or two since Costco brought them out last month. Obviously every year the beer is a little different, and my tastes change over time, but I do think this beer is a touch too malty for me. Might try one of those IPAs I saw in this thread, yum.

I stopped buying beer at Costco over the summer - no matter what I got, it was tasting like it had been stored or transported too warm. Maybe it's safe to give it a try again now that it's cooler.

Drinking a Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen.

Widmer anything = Full Sail anything >>>>>>> Sam Adams anything

I'll take a Hefeweizen, Broken Halo or Session any day of the week. Beats the heck out of faux "craft" beers with raspberries or blueberries or whatever in them. Yuck.

How much did it run you, if you don't mind me asking? I always hear Costco > all from people, but there aren't any around here.

It was $21.....cheap for good beer.

thats an awesome price... I live about 5 miles from the brewery, and its at least $4-5 more expensive at stores near me, and if I remember correctly, the costco price is MAYBE $1-2 more than buying AT the brewery... go costco.

I bought a 6 pack of Dundee Oktoberfest (A Marzen style Lager) and the smell is reminiscent of old lunchmeat that has started to go bad. Has anyone ever run into this before? I was even reluctant to mention it because it sounds so goofy.

I'm usually a big fan of the seasonal Sam Adams stuff, as well as the Cherry Wheat. Haven't had any of the Oktoberfest yet this year, but I plan on picking some up for the weekend 😎

Sounds like an infected beer to me.

I think Oktoberfest is overrated. My new beer of choice for the fall months is Harvest Moon.

You think Oktoberfest is overrated but like Harvest Moon?

That's a division by zero in the beer world 😉

I love Costco. I was worried it was going taste like crap but it's pretty good. I'm working on #2 right now. I was going get my tried and true Newcastle but got this instead.

I usually have a problem with #1 when I drink alot, but if you're already working up #2, maybe that beer is thicker than I thought!

I'm drinking a Victory's HopDevil IPA. Good stuff.

hmmm, tasty.

Have you had Mad Hatter IPA from New Holland? Very malty for an IPA, not as aggressively hopped as the standard.

Good stuff.

Tonight is:

-Sierra: Early Harvest Wet Hop Ale
-Celebration (it's that time of year, folks!)
-maybe some Arrogant Bastard, but then maybe not...

They've release the Celebration Ale?

This is what I was drinking last night, pretty good.

I love their summer brew but don't like their regular.

I wonder if I'd like this.

Might have to see if I can find a 6 pack someone to give it a test drive.
