Just bought a 24 pack of Sam Adams Oktoberfest at Costco

I love Costco. I was worried it was going taste like crap but it's pretty good. I'm working on #2 right now. I was going get my tried and true Newcastle but got this instead.

How much did it run you, if you don't mind me asking? I always hear Costco > all from people, but there aren't any around here.

Pretty good.

Havent tried sam adams, have heard good things.

Yeah I really like Sam Adams' cherry wheat, and the boston lager is decent. I've only had a few cases (I like to drink local 😀) but they have some good stuff. I have some friends on the East Coast who swear by Sam.

Sam Adams has so many different beers. You might like one but if you're drinking BL, you might not like any of their stuff. Even their light is heavier than most lights.

It was $21.....cheap for good beer.

10 more days til my 5 gallon batch of limoncello is finished. That will leave me just enough time to bottle it for Ren Faire and do a taste test. 😀

Nice. I think 24-cases of bottles are about that here.

I'm drinking a Victory's HopDevil IPA. Good stuff.

Hops are the fruit of life. I'm switching between Hop Whore from Tyranea and Unibroue's Terrible tonight. The Hop Whore is nuts. It smells of cat pee and weed and has enough hoppy balls to castrate an elephant with a tweezers.

I've been trying a lot of Stouts and Porters lately, but decided tonight was a good night to have an IPA. I'm about to finish a bottle of Rogue's XS Imperial Porter that I tried last night. It is absolutely delicious.

hmmm, tasty.

Have you had Mad Hatter IPA from New Holland? Very malty for an IPA, not as aggressively hopped as the standard.

Good stuff.

Tonight is:

-Sierra: Early Harvest Wet Hop Ale
-Celebration (it's that time of year, folks!)
-maybe some Arrogant Bastard, but then maybe not...

Sam Adams has some decent brews, and that Costco price for a 24 pack is pretty decent 🙂

I have some Oktoberfest in our fridge and I simply cannot drink it - it's too "wheaty" and heavy. I still haven't developed a taste for beer. The best I can do is Corona and possibly Lion's Head... how long does it take to develop a taste for "better" beers?

Well I wouldn't call it "better" since it's really what you like. Corona is what all the girls drink at clubs since it's fairly light 😛 Just try different beers and if you like the taste, then go for it. Try to go to a bar that has many different beers so you can taste them since you don't want to buy a 6pack and you not like the beer.

I gotta say Sam Adams Octoberfest is probably one of my favorite beers now. It isn't as bitter as their regular lager, but it still tastes great and is very drinkable. I also really like Summer Ale and Cream Stout. I'm not as big a fan of Cherry Wheat, but to each his own.
