Just as I thought society was at its worst...

I work in an Auntie Anne's pretzel kiosk in the middle of a mall. My manager and I were standing in the front taking care of customers. This young woman and her boyfriend/whoever are ordering and when they're about finished, some older (mid 40s?) lady was talking to them. I figure they they were probally friends, so didn't think much of it at the time. The younger lady walked off with a weird stare.

The older woman askes if she can have a Pretzel Dog, which is a hotdog wrapped with pretzel dough. Its pretty good, but its kind of expensive, its $2.98 after tax. I told her sure, and its $2.98, then she replied she had no money and shes hungry. I told her I'm sorry but I can't do anything for her. She askes for samples, but we didn't have any, so I told her the food court might have some samples available. Meanwhile, my manager is disgusted and is about to tell her to leave.

So she just stands there and another couple comes to order, in the middle of ordering, shes begging the newer couple to buy her something to eat. They hesitate and tell her no. She keeps begging says shes very hungry, and "would eat anything". The man gives in and buys her the Pretzel Dog. I hand him the Dog, and he hands it to her. The lady then asks for money to ride the bus. The guy tells her off saying he just bought her something to eat, and then she has the nerve to beg him for money for the bus. My manager and I are disgusted with this woman.

The couple walk off, and the lady looks at the Pretzel Dog. She askes what it is, and I explain to her the hot dog with the pretzel dough and such, and I point to our sign which clearly shows what its supposed to look like. She then says thats not what she wants. My manager explained to her that the man just purchased her a pretzel dog and was being nice. The lady replies "So what?" in a very harsh attitude. She askes if she can have "her money back". I tell her No, then my manager tells her to leave. She walks off, and I see her start to eat her pretzel dog. I had also noticed she had an Old Navy bag.

I swear, I have never seen anyone so inconsiderate. It really makes me wonder how this person was raised, and what kind of examples she has set for her children. Heh, thats just another one of those customer service stories you hear people talk about.

Wow, I had to check and make sure you weren't in the same state as me. Someone who used to work where I work came to mind as I read this.
She'd complain at break how she didn't have enough money to go to the laundromat. Then, at lunch, she'd buy a bunch of DVD's, and some things for her kids. She also liked to ask to "borrow" money, nearly every day. That, and she also didn't like to show up for work. She is no longer working with us. And I don't know anyone who misses her.
Strange how people somehow learn that society owes them everything, and they owe nothing in return.

I dont give any money to homeless people. I know all of the "hot" spots where they like to beg for sh*t and I also know for a fact that there are at least 4 homeless shelters within walking distance of those places. Some of these shelters offer free programs to get these people on their feet again. When someone asks me for money I immediately tell them NO before I start to feel sorry. However, if they say they're hungry and Im leaving a restuaraunt with a doggy bag of food, I'll give them whatever I have. There was this one time I was with an ex gf and we were walking to the car. I had a doggy bag with a whole crab cake sandwich which cost $21. I didnt even touch the damn thing or the fries that came with it. I handed it to this one homeless guy who said he was hungry. I watched that man throw it away as we were walking away.

Out of curiousity, what was the race of this woman.

Heh, that reminds me.

I realize that some of you like to hand food to "people in need" instead of just handing them money. Sounds like a smart idea, since they are "hungry" after all. But what if they try and return the food? They'll just take that money and go buy crack or whatever it is that got them homeless in the first place. It seems for everyway people try to help the less fortunate, the deadbeats seem to find a way to exploit it.

I will now advise people not to purchase meals for "people in need". I work for my money, and I'm not going to go throw it away at someone who is too lazy to work.

She was carrying an Old Navy bag, which suggests that she just purchased items from the mall. Somehow she can afford to get over here, purchase some clothing, but is unable to feed herself and provide transportation back home.

The begger was black. The first couple were black. The second couple were hispanic.

Actually, she might not have been shopping at all.....but shoplifting she might have been doing. I used to work in retail and what shoplifters will do is bring in a bag and fill it with as much sh*t as they can. Just a guess.

Im not aware of any restuarunts that will accept returned food for cash. They "might" exchange it for the same food but I doubt any place will give cash out for returned food. My tolerance for homeless beggers has decreased alot during the last few years, and it seems ironically that the beggers have become more aggressive and rude.
