i love skynyrd. How could you not mention Freebird, that song rocks!!!

Because it's like Stairway to Heaven- it got so popular it's now a cliche 🙂

the older, original Skynyrd is awesome. I don't like the new singer, and that "red White and Blue" songs is just far too cliched partiotic for my tastes. But their earlier stuff was awesome. Gimme Three Steps, Simple Man, That Smell (love the dueling guitars at the end), and yes, of course, Freebird (I don't care what anyone says, that is the best guitar solo ever.) They are classic. Sweet Home Alabama is one of those songs that puts you in a good mood no matter what.

well I heard Neil Young sing about her
heard ol' Neil put her down
well I hope Neil Young will remember
a Southern man don't need him around, anyhow!

I don't know that there's not a Skynyrd song I don't like. I've seen their new incarnation twice in concert and they put on a great show both times. Saw them with ZZ Top the first time (also great) and .38 Special the second time (also good, even though I'm not very familiar with them).

It's hard for me to pick a favorite Skynyrd song, though. Red, White, And Blue, All I Can Do Is Write About It, Gimme Back My Bullets, I Never Dreamed, Mr. Banker, Simple Man, and Swamp Music are some of my favorites a little outside of their most popular stuff, all of which I of course love. I don't care how cliche it is, Free Bird is one of my favorite songs and always will be.

I saw Skynyrd in Long Beach Cali. back in 74 at the Long Beach Auditorium. They had it half closed off and the side they used was only HALF full.:Q
The next night Black Sabbath played and the place was PACKED!

I was very supprized that more people didn't go to see Skynyrd.

BTW: Do you know who Lynyrd Skynyrd WAS? Where the band got it's name?

I can't remember exactly (and I'm not going to cheat with Google or anything), but I think the name was a reference to something involving their high school. Something like the janitor or one of the teachers there maybe.
