Ok, so, dim display but it's showing something at least. Have you tried bumping the brightness using the function key combo? Does it do the same thing on battery and pigged in? Did it work properly in the donor before moving it over?

Yeah the donor screen came up with BIOS password request but was full brightness.
Can see an option to bump up brightness on the keyboard.
I haven’t tried plugging it in with DC power just yet, but the battery is fully charged.

Well, it sounds like you'll get it working. Usually you can clear passwords by shorting a couple of pins or pulling the CMOS battery and holding the power hutton without the AC/main battery installed.

Sadly no CMOS mounted to this board... of what I can see anyway.

I am really starting to lose faith in this, and I like you are not one to give up easily.

Why would this company change the panel type for the same (identical) Model machine

They have really messed me up at the moment

SMH anything to make a profit.

I've seen people go to the extreme and down the rabbit hole on stuff like this to the point of soldering stuff to terminals to unbrick devices.

Why they sold something with a password though would piss me off. Though there's usually ways to purge that. Maybe contact the seller and ask.

It depends on how much more effort you want to put into it though. Finding a good upgrade though shouldn't be too hard by searching using the CPU and GPU model numbers. I found my last laptop that way because the seller messed up the model number and got it for $700 when everyone else was selling it for $1000. For my current one though being just released with ADL I couldn't do that but, still found a good deal with a barebones model to add ram and nvme to it.

Hi, I am afraid it is me again..... I am still having difficulty with this panel.
I was doing a lot of digging the other day and someone mentioned elsewhere about taking "Voltage readings of the pins on the connectors" and then comparing them........
Well I have taken the voltage readings with nothing but the DC power supply connected and the board "powered up".
This is my last resort to trying to get this working and if not then at least I have given it one last try...

I hope you do not mind me sending these readings to you, and hope they make more sense to you. I tried to compare them but I keep losing track.
