It's a cool language . But yes, the server is a nightmare to administer, it doesn't scale well (see Anandtech Forums) and it's expensive.

Supposedly the .NET verion of Fusetalk should be available REAL SOON NOW? which should fix the JRUN problems (who knows what other problems may occur though?).

Of course the majority of the blame lies with Macromedia, but how can Fusetalk develop and sell software that is based on Macromedia's technology without testing it enough to tell that errors like this occurs constantly?

It's a cool language . But yes, the server is a nightmare to administer, it doesn't scale well (see Anandtech Forums) and it's expensive.

It's a cool concept (tag-based markup, though should be held to XML standards, IMO), but it needs some serious reworking. The server is crap, and becomes more crappy with every "update" macromedia releases.

Again, it's not a fuse talk issue. this issue developed majorly when macromedia released one of it's latest patches to CF MX server. Their code is fine, but the server sucks.

Why are they applying MX patches in the first place? If there's one thing I've learned from working with CF, it's that once you've found a patch combination that works, STICK TO IT and don't touch it.

That shouldn't matter. You don't build a sweet car using a crap engine and then say that no one should blame us for it. You take the sweet car and put a proper engine in it, then sell it. The end user couldn't give a sh!t why it doesn't work.

That being said, I love the look of fusetalk, and i think it is a very nice design, and I like Anandtech. It's just too bad it's giving so many headaches. And, if it gives me this many problems, I can only imagine how much of a headache it's being to those behind the scenes. Keep up the work guys, I'm looking forward to this .NET rewrite.

That shouldn't matter. You don't build a sweet car using a crap engine and then say that no one should blame us for it. You take the sweet car and put a proper engine in it, then sell it. The end user couldn't give a sh!t why it doesn't work.

When they built it, they built it on a good version of CF. I'm sure they wouldn't have released it otherwise. IIRC, the patch they installed was manditory because of some severe security flaws, so installing it wasn't a question.

Edit, patch was applied for combatibility probs. CFMX requires CFMX server 6.1 or greater.
