Hey guys, could someone please link me up to a program that can change a bitmap to a jpeg?

Thanks so much!

Do you have Microsoft Plus!98? There is a program called Microsoft Picture it! Express which can do the converting.

hominid skull: No, MS Paint can only convert other formats to BitMaps, not BitMaps to other formats.

hmmmmm, worked fine but now it's like making folders and crap

how do I get it back to just converting from bmps to jpegs?

to the best of my knowledge after 30 days it will start displaying an annoying reminder of ordering it. But yeah you can still use it even after the trial period.

Anybody is free to correct me if I am wrong however😉

Come on guys, why has no one mentioned IrfanView? One of the best damned image utilities out there, and free. Even does batch conversions...take a whole list of files and change format, size, rotation, contrast/gamma/brightness, color, anything you want. Don't even have to install it, it's a small executable which is consequently very fast. http://softwarecenter.net/irfanview/

RobSan: I just tried opening a bmp and save as jpeg. It would only save in bmp, awx, and tif.

LXi:

Sorry, I just changed one ten minutes ago using MS Paint. I convert them because the JPGs are generally much smaller and easier to email. Just moved a 901kb BMP file to a 41kb JPG file using MS Paint and emailed it to a friend. Use the same process daily at work.

Paint Shop Pro does a good job in batch conversions. It is true you can use any Paint Shop Pro version 4 and below after the trial period. Of course, the nag screen appears but it can be a single ok click away.

However, versions after that, there is no way to click ok on the nag screen.

Just to confirm that MS paint does convert .bmp to .jpg and vice versa, along with several other formats. Win98SE here.

Yeah, if you have an extra $500, get Photoshop - you'll use it everyday (it's the most useful program I have...besides IE so I can get to this site). If you don't have $500, just get it from somebody (you think I actually paid for it?). If you're a software pirate policeman, that was just a joke......
