Man, I'd love to see Kansas and Foghat! And the headliner is? Yup..Journey

Journey without Perry is one thing, but Foghat - without Lonesome Dave singing and Rod Price on the slide guitar, its just not the Foghat I know :(

Hell, my 14 y.o. daughter came home from school the week before spring break asking me to name a song that she knew only bits a pieces of... It was Journey and I was astounded that she was interested in them. Come to find out I don't have any Journey in my mp3 collection of just over 26GB...

Infact, Pacfan, in the November of 2008 issue of Guitar Player Magazine, Neal Schon said Steve Perry still gets paid like a motherfucker. The contract ended at the end of 2008. Steve Perry no longer gets any royalties from their tours or any albums going forward. That has got to be a huge release for all of them. They no longer have to live in SMFP's shadow.
That is exactly the article I was referring to.

As far as Perry getting royalties, I'm not sure about him not getting royalties from them playing songs he wrote in concert.....writers get royalties every time their songs get played on the radio, and whenever they get played in concert also, IIRC. Unless they had some sort of one-off deal, I'd think he still gets paid when they play the old stuff that he wrote or co-wrote.

On the other hand, it's possible that it's okay for a band to play stuff and not pay for it if some of the members also had a hand in writing it.

I remember that debate on the Van Halen forums, about whether David Lee Roth got a check while Halen was on tour with Sammy Hagar, since they played some Roth-era tunes. Or if Halen got a check for Roth and Hagar playing those songs on their solo tours.

Like those bands or not, you don't suck if your songs from 25+ years ago are still getting heavy airplay today. If that doesn't qualify you for a hall of fame, I don't know what does.
Does this mean you're nominating KC and the Sunshine Band for the R&R HoF?
Well, Madonna is in the Hall. Why NOT KC and the Sunshine Band?

I saw them about 7 months ago..was a great show. They played with Heart and Cheap Trick.

I wouldn't walk across the street to see that show if it was free. Well maybe to see Cheap Trick but I'd leave as soon as they were done. If Journey ever makes it into the R&R HoF then being in the R&R HoF would mean nothing.

Have you lost your mind Red? Heart is worth the admission alone!

KC and the Sunshine Band was awesome. Journey is more than a little whiny.

Have you lost your mind Red? 20 years ago Heart is worth the admission alone!

Fixed.

Journey sucked at the clark county show I saw (sounded like ass), but Heart and Cheap Trick kicked ass:thumbsup: It was a great show!, somebody pooched the sound system for Journey though, and we had to leave :(

Heart is just as good now as they were 20 years ago. I saw the Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick tour last year. Ann Wilson can still belt it out.....and they did a KILLER cover of The Who's "Love Reign O'er Me"....far better than Pearl Jam's version.
