Joke: Why were the six men jerking off at the same time?

The difference is that conservatards do let right-wing commentators do their thinking for them. They don't have the information base to directly counter the assertions, the knowledge that their dearth of information puts them at risk, nor the baseline toolset underlying critical thinking with which to emplace generalized counters. They are only set up for the delusion of independent thought.

Top liberals, OTOH, don't take what anyone says as the final say on the matter. We know how to counter rhetoric to leave a proposition at an indeterminate truth value.
"Organizing atheists is like herding cats." That's because we don't share one mind.

That's a load of bull and you know it.

not really funny..the only reason it made me chuckle is because it made me think of how ignorant teabaggers are and they love those stupid ass chain letters which are totally full of shit

Indeed. Someone ham-fistedly repurposes a 15 year old joke about HMO's and the clueless masses suddenly think they're on the cutting edge of humor.

This version has pointless details added, (takes his vitals, instructs him to undress/lay on the table, takes off all her clothes), has clumsy construction ("goes for a vasectomy" followed by, "before the (vasectomy.) The singular "act" referencing, "she has his way with him.") And this stinker of a sentence that has at least a dozen problems: "The nurse informs the patient that studies have shown that before a vasectomy if the man has an ejaculation, he will be more relaxed and that the vasec is easier for the surgeon to locate and sever, thereby making the surgery safer, more efficient and quicker."

It's really poorly done.

I've never understood this whole "Liberal" vs "Conservative" thing, surely the opposite of liberal is authoritarian.

Don't even bother trying to converse with DoucheSeraph. He does not know how to converse, he only belittles and trolls people. He is not interested in any honest discussion, only making these grand proclamations from upon high that only ending up showing how little he truly knows about people. That post you quoted is a perfect example.

Whose mind are you using as a model?
Perhaps you should try using mine to, you know, model me.

You'd do well to model all your thinking on me.

I'd shoot myself before I'd start thinking like you do.

I know. I guess I take the bait too easily at times.

Technically yes, but generally speaking liberals have hijacked the term and usually are for more government intervention, regulation, and control. Opposite of what the word may really mean. But then, that's just the illogical way they operate 😛

Obviously. The problem is that people have tried to bastardize the term and have called Democrats liberals. People always need to be reminded that Democrats are also in the right, just less so than Conservatives.

One simply thing to remember: if you're not for civil rights/liberties, you're not a liberal. If you want to ban something simply because you don't agree with it even though it doesn't affect you or your rights, you're not a liberal either.

What do you expect from a group that uses a jackass as their logo.

I think so much of the problems stemming from the left vs right, liberal vs conservative talk is that everyone uses a somewhat different definition of what those terms mean. Most likely it will depend on how they view themselves on that spectrum.

For example, as you said the opposite of liberal is authoritarian, but liberal what? Most liberals want more government, which could be construed as being more authoritarian right? If those on the right want less government, then they would insist liberals are more authoritarian.

Since none of us use the same definitions, hilarity ensues.

Technically yes

I've removed the bias so I can respond.

Fair enough, it's a bizzare use of these two words, which we don't tend to use over here, particularly given that we have a party called "The Conservative Party" using these words would just get all the more confusing. To me conservative means traditional, hates change and Liberal means easy going.

Cool, so now I don't feel that I waste all the premium that I paid to BCBS for the last few years.

BCBS, send me the pics of all the hot nurses, I want to pick and choose in advance 🙂

Yeah I think that's the reason we don't use those words in the UK. They don't fit the bill.

That is what I mean, the definitions will change person to person based on how they view themselves, often defining the opposite side in the negative. You obviously see yourself as a liberal, and defined it as "easy going" and at the same time use the word hate in your definition of conservative.

And besides, in general, the terms probably have a different meaning as a whole in the UK from the US.

I think this is another reason why I get confused when americans call me a "liberal", I want more government intervention, I'm pro police, anti-gun, anti-abortion. More laws seem like a positive to me, people call that liberal, that is anything but liberal, it's not an easy going way of thinking, it's a more authoritarian way of thinking.

Very confusing.

Actually on that conservative one, I just googled the definition:

con·serv·a·tive/kənˈsərvətiv/
Noun: A person who is averse to change and holds to traditional values and attitudes, typically in politics.

Also, when it comes to politics, I am not a liberal easy going type person, I want change, I want more laws, more police etc etc.

Agreed, no problem there. I wonder how many in DC are truly liberal or conservative, I doubt very many. I think you mentioned earlier that these terms have been hijacked by the respective parties, no args there. Just one the many reasons I am so tired of all this left vs. right partisan bullshit, it gets us nowhere, quickly.

I don't think anyone uses the textbook definition of these terms when discussing, or labeling themselves.

Also, when it comes to politics, I am not a liberal easy going type person, I want change, I want more laws, more police etc etc.

That could be construed as authoritarian. In fact if you add your opinions on criminals, guns, police, etc, you might very well have an authoritarian streak in you, way more than you probably want to admit.

What does 1+1 equal? I pull from memory that it's 2.

Who is this?

I pull from memory that it's the President of the United States, Barack Obama.

Put up or shut up.
