I am glad to say I don't use twitter, facebook, myspace or any of those other lame sites.

I've been a member for about a month and still not really sure what it is. People just post messages all day that you can't reply to it seems.

Just refilled my water bottle from the Pur fridge tank. Feeling smug about saving money by refilling. Yay!

I registered out of curiosity (strictly for business use), spent ten minutes trying to find something to do with it, closed the page, and haven't been back since.

I use to use that term and one time I said it in front of my wife...in December....and the wife says "WTF are the boys doing swimming in the cold?"

And not just castrated, like you cut off it's arms, legs, ears, and eyes. No options what.so. ever. No photos in the post either? Seriously? And it can only be ONE SENTENCE?? Can't comment on it?? It's like I stepped back into 1990 internet...only worse.

Uh it's like that so it complies with SMS limitations. It's like broadcasting text messages.

Which makes it less lame how? I think most blogs have text messaging updates too. And most phones have internet too.

Right and status updates that go to your phone as a text message don't have pictures in them either. Point?

Sure, and some people use that. A quick tweet can get the point across a lot faster than firing up a (in many cases slow) web browser, logging in to some site like Facebook, navigating to your friends page, and seeing what they are doing.

It isn't for everyone but i see the draw.

The one reason I use Twitter is to follow http://twitter.com/BreakingNews and some celebrities I like.

That Breaking News Twitter account has all breaking news before ANY other news source I have ever seen.

Also, I like to use it on my iPhone on the Twitterific app. It has a feature that shows you all the Twitter messages that are posted near you. (1-25 miles) Kinda cool to see what people around you are talking about.

I registered for twitter a while ago, tried to force myself to use it for a few days, then gave up as I didn't see the point. I looked at my updates and they were something like:

-is going to work
-is coming home from work
-is babysitting his nephew

etc. I didn't understand who in their right mind would care about that stuff, so I stopped logging in. I have since come to understand twitter.

I started up a tech blog and wordpress has this twitter plugin where you can have it send out a tweet whenever you make a blog post that contains the link to the blog entry. Kinda neat, so I signed up for it under a new account. I got tweetie for my iPod touch and while I was playing with it, I discovered it had two interesting features: A location based search to see the recent tweets from wherever you are, and a topic based search, to find tweets containing a certain word.

I find myself browsing the local tweets quite often. There's quite a bit of interesting stuff going on in the neighbourhood and it's fun to keep up on it.

I also did a few searches for "GMAT" and am now talking with several MBA hopefuls, giving them tips and application essay help. Actually, with the number of people on twitter talking about the GMAT, I've considered offering my essay review services and charging some money for it...
