Johnny Depp was extremely annoying in the Pirates series.

They are playing all the movies on SyFy and I am now remembering how annoyingly Depp played his character. The character was designed IMO just to turn women on. Wearing makeup, that stupid bandana, not walking like normal people but either hopping, skipping or prancing, with that stupid bedroom voice, shifting back and forth as he speaks and always flailing his arms about. So damn annoying.

I want to yell, "stop acting like an idiot", but no one will hear me. :'(
 
Hell, Depp is annoying in almost every part he plays...but he's still not a terrible actor. At least he doesn't...sound...like...he...is...reading...his...script...as...he...plays...the...part.

I remember when he was still a nobody back in 1987. I used to watch 21 Jump Street when I got home from school. Depp was so annoying I had to turn the channel.

The Pirates movies are chick flicks. Probably the best disguised chicks flicks around but chicks flicks none the less. Jack Sparrow was written with that in mind.

The best you can hope for if you have to watch these movies is that there is a woman watching them with you and you will be able to bang the crap out of her afterwards.

Yep. He is actually a very good actor, most people acting drunk fail miserably. He didn't fail in this role at all...
 
I like Depp and I liked him in Pirates. I did not however, like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at all.

Now that was actually a good movie. Depp did OK in that. It had Charlie. It had chocolate. It had a factory. No way can you lose on this one!
 
Watch his mannerism in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas sometime. Jack Sparrow is simply a reissue of Depp's Hunter S. Thompson.
