Johnny Depp was extremely annoying in the Pirates series.

And regarding that remake of chocolate factory, unwatchable sh*t and tripe. In fact, he wasn't the main problem with that. The darkness of it was. They took a good movie and made it crap and then he just happened to be the icing on that crap cake. He is one of the main reasons I will never watch the Alice in wonderland, a truly aggravating person to watch on screen. One dimensional like no other actor is.

I would agree with this if you replaced Depp with Tom Cruise. as is, though, you're a bit off with your assessment.
 
his other movies are good, pirates sucked pretty badly. doesn't even play a good drunk person, jim lahey from trailer park boys takes the cake for acting drunk.
 
He did ok in Pirates but i kinda agree with skoorb, his acting is the same across his movies. pirates, chocolate factory, alice in wonderland, ichabod crane, edward scissorhands.
I think its the eyes and the mouth, its the same position in all of them.
 
OP's opinion is wrong.

Usually the protagonist is the least interesting character in a movie, but in The Pirates of The Caribbean he was the best played by a long shot. Orlando and Kiera didnt do it for me as actors. As a hot chick, Orlando did pretty well.
