I used to be a reasonably active poster here, until your sorts here on both sides of the US political spectrum were given free reign to pollute this forum. I haven't posted much of anything here in the past decade. As you can see by the above, I wasn't shy of calling out people on the conservative side of the spectrum for their obviously racist posts. My father went through basically the same thing Senator McCain is now. I hope he realizes that the end is very near and he has to make a decision between taking a heroic stand and the immediate gratification of going along with the team. He, like all of us, is a very flawed human being-at times he has made very bad decisions (Keating Five, very much of his 2008 campaign) and at times he has made heroic ones (refusing to leave prison without the rest of his men, standing up to the wacko religious right in 2000).

I'm not going to fault him if he takes the easy way out and goes for immediate gratification in the upcoming vote, but he will have passed up a chance to secure a true legacy.

I honestly don't know what to tell you if you thought there was any chance he wasn't voting for the MTP. And fuck yes, he should be faulted. The unfortunate thing is that the brain cancer didn't get this piece of shit before he could cast his vote.

What's his legacy really? Worked hard to get the military ever-larger budgets decade after decade? The only thing I think he's ever done worth lauding was rapprochement with Vietnam.
