Not sure where the $1 billion number comes from... seems optimistic considering his recent financial issues. I got an AP news alert today that said some document from 2007 stated his net worth as ~$200 million. Still incredible. If those 100+ unreleased songs are worth listening to, that'd bring in a ton of money.

The Beetles rights are worth quite a bit (Sony valued them at $1 billion), although as mentioned Sony ownes 50% and it has been used as collateral for loans. Unreleased songs could be worth a fortune to collectors and make millions each if released (if they are good). The first posthumous album would sell like hot cakes if it is good...
