I was just at a large casino sports book in vegas (Green Valley Station) and everyone there was on pins and needles when Pats were up 45. The line was at 49. There were some there pissed he took Brady out because that was the only foreseeable way that the score would get up over 49 with the way the skins were playing. Then Cassel scores and the place erupted - and all the diehards went back to watching the TB game.
So I say its bullshit that the Pats should stop playing or just run the ball when they have 6 minutes left. When you have a line of 49 and that line hasnt been beaten there is still game to be played. If they wouldn't it would be a disspaointment and controversy to all the fans who had bet on the game.

I didn't see the end of the game, but when you're up that big late and the game there's little excuse to be doing anything other than running ball to eat up the clock and end the game ASAP. However going for it on 4th and 1 as close to the endzone as that isn't a bad thing as long as they're just running it right up the gut. Going for a field goal there would be pretty much a sure thing and would definitely be running up the score. If the other team can't stop you when you're making it crystal clear that all you'll be doing is run it up the middle...then that's their problem. However if they're passing then they're making it clear they want TDs and as many points as possible, and that is classless as it puts players on both teams at unnecessary risk for injury.
