AFP was founded by Willis Carto and is a direct descendant of the Liberty Lobby and its publication "The Spotlight." Its pedigree is hardcore neo--Nazi. Apparently neither Arpaio nor anyone on his campaign staff is familiar with Google.

I'm thinking if you're a political candidate giving an interview to a publication, the minimum vetting would be reading its wiki, dontcha think? Worse yet, maybe he did read the wiki and gave the interview anyway...

I didn't say Arpaio was competent. I rather assumed that he is not. I merely pointed out that it was understandable for a guy like him to make such a mistake.

Capische?

I'd love to see Arpaio get the nod to run. With Trump running on a hate and fear racist theme, Arpaio would fit right into the fold and the Repub brand would then get even further damaged as the party of, for and led by racists.

I rather doubt it. Maricopa county controls Arizona. As the world's largest gated community, they live breathe and eat Republican.

Maybe 20 years ago, sure. But not now. Sinema is in the Senate *BECAUSE OF* Maricopa county. Many heavily populated precincts swung heavily in her favor.

Yeah, she won it by 3 points in 2018. Given Trump only won it by 4 points in 2016 the county seems to be steadily swinging away from Republicans.

The sun belt political landscape is rapidly changing especially in the suburban/urban areas.
