Jock itch "issue"

Hey guys,

My crotch area developed what I think was jock itch about 3 months ago. It itched like a mofo and got very red. I thought it was just some random rash so I waited it out. Never went away so I got some OTC stuff. That got rid of the redness and the itchiness.

A few days later, I started noticing a foul smell coming out of my crotch area. It is kind of a musty, disgusting smell. I thought it was the jock itch and that I needed more medication. I got some prescription nitrate miconazole anti-fungal cream and applied it for about a week and half. Nope, nothing. The smell is still there but I did notice that it is much sweatier down there than it used be.

So I went to dermatologist last wednesday who looked around and said that he didn't notice anything physical that could indicate any fungi. Should I ask for a culture to be done? He recommended Gold Bond and to use Hibiclens Antiseptic and see if that took care of it. I have not tried it yet as it is still being shipped to my house.

Anyway, has any one ever experienced or has seen the above? I was thinking it could just be dead skin cells but I have no clue. :| It is very embarrassing for me.
 
What sort of underwear do you wear? If it's briefs, try switching to boxers to see if that takes care of the sweaty issue. Fungal infections thrive in damp areas. Make sure you're toweling completely dry after showering, and shower immediately after an workout you do.
 
Haha finally a reply! Yes, I shower daily, use boxers, dry it up pretty well and use some powder to help with the sweatiness. Man, I hope this goes away on its own because it's really bad, although the powder is making a big difference. Thanks for your reply!
 
I had a yeast infection down there about 5 years ago. The first time I went to the DR she told me to get Tinactin, which did not work. Then the DR gave me a prescription to a steroid cream that did not work. The 3rd time she gave me a prescription to some pill not sure what the name of it was but the first 2 weeks I was like this is not working but the 3rd week that shit kicked in and cleaned me out.

I think I got it from shaving down there. It just would not go away until I took that pill. Also check your laundry detergent I know a guy that got a bad rash from surf detergent.
