I'm in Chattanooga and those jobs are very much in demand. There simply aren't many jobs where one can make a decent wages and move up through hard work rather than education.
My property taxes are almost $1200 for a modest home, 1,700 ft including finished basement, minimal brick and stucco on a wood siding frame house. Folks in the city pay about double that.
Lucky. We're $6000 or thereabouts in one of Chicago's fine southern suburbs in Crook Co. Around the same size house, same type of construction. Want to hear a cool perk? We have like multiple armed police officers in our local high school. Pretty cool perk for $6k a year in property taxes alone right?
