No one else thinks this guy actually told the interviewer he had a 3.x GPA and is now asking to find out whether or not he can get in trouble for it if they find out?
Maybe I'm just too cynical.
Just FWIW I have no indication that they even assume it is a 3.X other then the fact that the response was so positive from them while everyone else hasn't been to enthralled with me resume. Also given that 3.X = 3.9 that would be something that I think someone wouldn't just believe out of hand, there isn't a single EE graduating my year that has that high of a GPA and the average GPA is 3.0, so if you look at all the graduating seniors in all of engineering maybe 1-2 have a 3.9 GPA so on one hand it would seem that a company wouldn't just trust you out of hand if you said "3.9" especially if you left your GPA off your resume.
But on the other hand I have had 2 companies (both of which listed no minimum GPA requirement) email me saying I didn't meet minimum requirements and since I have everything else they are asking for then GPA is really the only thing where I could be seen to be lacking. Also FWIW my 3 summers of internship are for the company which has hired the contractor who made me the offer.
So I have experience using all the software and procedures that will be used in this job. Like I said everyone I know thinks I'm just being paranoid, but I guess I'm not one to see an email saying "congratulation we want to give you tons of $$$" until I actually have the money in the bank. Not to mention that I would have to buy a car and rent an apartment and invest tons of money into moving to the area and then if it doesn't work out I am in major debt with no job and have to start all over again.
