Job hunt got me down

I have not had this much trouble finding a job since 1999 and again in 2003.

The economy is in the crapper, but usually there are a lot of jobs in industrial areas.

In the past 2 months I have put in dozens of applications and resumes. I got 2 emails, and both of them were a denial.

Have you considered retail?

Have you considered sales?

How about office work? Such as administrative and or managerial work?

How about sanitation or office cleaning?

i thought i read from previous posts of yours that you are a welder? i thought welders are hard to come by and make a good amount of money.

<--- could be totally wrong about everything just said.

You mean:

Have you considered JcPenny Cashier?

Have you tried selling Vacuums door to door?

Have you tried Mcdonalds manager?

You could always be a janitorrrrr!!!

If he needs a paycheck and some benes, why not? And, he can be a sales person at a retail store, make some commission as well.

I have a job, looking for better job.

How about truck driver? My ex g/f's father drove big rigs. Worked 70+ hours a week, but made around 75k a year. No college education, just a high school diploma. Sounds right up your alley.

OP - just like plenty of others you gotta learn to be willing to pack up your shit and move the bandwagon. Instead you're set in your ways and expect the jobs to come to you.

Whaaaat? I heard they were quite unionized and making 6+ figures. 75k sounds weak.

You are in the wrong part of Texas. If you are a certified welder out in Odessa or Midland you could work in an oil shop and make a heck of a lot more money than I make with benefits.

But yeah, no, actually the economy is doing reasonably well, although not spectacular. All the manufacturing and industrial jobs got outsourced though.

Good luck with the struggle, Comrade.

Hey I know he comes off with crazy political stuff but I think it's down right mean to poke someone when they're down. Being unemployed or underemployed isn't fun and a little more consideration is in order.

Not sure what his skill set is but if you're used to industrial skill labor jobs at $25/hr or more it is quite a come down taking a retail job at maybe $8.50/hr and it can be a real blow to your sense of worth. I know as I've had to do that in the past.

Not underemployed. He has a cushy desk job but likes manual labor better. In other words, troll thread, like every other thread he posts.

$20/hr is pretty damn weak...

At first, I was going to say "$75k a year isn't $20/hr!" but then I realized it is for working 70+ hour weeks.

I don't think there is any amount of money I'd work 70 hour weeks for. Well, there is, but it is enough that I only have to work a month or so and retire. I prefer to enjoy my life, not work myself to death.
