I took my car there once for an oil change because it was due and the shop I usually get it done at was closed. I'm never going there again, not because they did a poor job but because their employees look like high school dropouts. Just don't trust my car with them anymore.

I don't think I will ever go there again.

This happened to me at 2 Jiffy Lubes. They try to sell you the expensive oil and say your manufacturer recommends it. Last time I took my car to the Honda dealership I asked them if they recommend that oil and they said NO, they are trying to make extra money.

Then of course they tried to sell me more junk. Wanted to replace my air filter from my heater inside the car for $50 and also change my transmission oil.

No, I'll just take the regular oil and nothing else.

This same thing happened at 2 different Jiffy Lubes. Don't think it will be long until we see a lawsuit against them.

well duh. did you think jiffy lubes (and the like) were not going to try to scam you into buying more expensive stuff?

Iffy Lube is a chain. Some of them will have an intelligent manager and techs who aren't baked all day. If this one isn't acceptable, vote with your wallet and move on.

And for the 'I drill my own oil and refine it, build my own oil filters and change my car's oil every 24 hours!' crowd, come on. There are a lot of people who don't have the tools or interest to change their own oil. DECENT quick-lube joints are worth going to, assuming that you don't have an exotic car or whatever.

That said, OP, these places live on upsells. If a manager can't show that he has sold X air filters and Y windshield wiper blades in a month he's fired. Just tell them no, get the minimum service and move on.

Change your oil yourself, n00b.

Up yours buddy.

not up his, up yours since Jiffy Lube just went up yours. and they didnt use any lube either. oh wow...thats another false advertising for you to complain about.

but seriously, learn how to change your own oil. its rather simple and you end up saving money too

Ha, picky kids.

Changing your own is easy but sometimes you don't want to fvck with it. Like when there is three feet of snow on the ground or it is 100+ out.

But what I HATE about JL is when you go in for the oil change with a coupon to get it for like $2X and while they are doing it the sales guy comes out with a pained look on his face, like he just hit your damn dog, and goes on to explain how you need a tranny fluid flush/clean/refill. Same for the coolant. Plus a new air filter and your wipers are shot.

Once I had just gotten done doing my transmission fluid (the pan gasket and everything) but forgot to do the oil. So a few days later I took it to JL and got the same story. Told the guy he was full of sh*t and that I just changed it. Sure enough he came back a few minutes later with the "wrong car" story.

They just really tick me off. If you don't do it yourself take it to a locally owned shop. Those guys usually need customers too bad to fvck over everyone who comes in.

In high school my friend used to work there. Unless you're watching they probably didn't change the oil filter, and probably just drained and filled it with oil. The car is really hot and changing the oil filter you always get crap dripping on you.

i have new cars under warrenty. I only let the dealer do all work on them. This includes only changes. They offer 9.99 oil changes and other perks. Plus if there is a quesiton on maitence, they did it all and have all the records. They can't tell me the jiffy lub guy did something wrong.
Meh. Do it yourself anyway. Hell, dealerships are no better most of the time (for oil changes anyway).

LOL. Learn to change the oil yourself. It's a rather simple process that entails removing a oil pan bolt, placing a bucket or something to use to drain the oil, removing the filter, replacing the filter, and then the bolt and filling your engine with new oil.

The problem isn't changing the oil, it's disposing of the old oil.

i know my local Pep Boys, Autozone, and Advanced Auto Parts all take used oil for free

And you do everything in life by yourself then? I don't believe it. Just some griefers as usual.

No I don't do EVERYTHING in life by myself, but I can at least do the most basic maintenance. It's not like you're rebuilding a tranny:
1. drive car on ramp
2. place pan under oil plug
3. remove oil plug
4. remove/replace oil filter
5. replace oil plug
6. fill w/new oil
7. bring used oil to AZ, AAP, WM, etc.

Actually, 3 & 5 are N/A for me because I bought a QuickDrain oil plug ($30 at AutoZone etc.). I screw a little hose on and drain the oil right into an empty milk/water gallon jug. Takes all of about 10 minutes in the driveway.

when i was with my ex we took her car to jiffy lube cause she had one of those coupons.. the people there were complete a-holes. basically, everything went well until right after they changed the oil. after that they tried to tell her that she needed to flush and refill the transmission and radiator fluids as well as new fuel and air filters. It was all total bull and he kept telling us that if we didnt do it then and there the car was going to break down and we were going to regret it. after about 10 minutes of this crap, i had to raise my voice and tell him to just GIVE ME THE KEYS SO WE CAN LEAVE

That's what they use around here, reclaimed (recycled) oil. And you're supposed to pay how much for this?

...and then paying someone to take your used oil...when you finally find someone that will take it!

All the auto parts stores here accept used oil for free.
